What makes you say that people that I interacted with in Japan were workers? We when first arrived in Tokyo after taking the train, there were two guys that talked to the cab driver to take us to the hotel.

Additionally, when ever we travel we ask the Japanese tourist to take our photo because they know their way around a camera and are always happy to do so. I wouldn't allow a few instances of rudeness cloud your mind of an entire group of people.

It's not about a group of people or a race. It's just the damn tourists which happened to mostly be Japanese and Euro. Most of them were rude, obnoxious and void of manners and common courtesy. My wife was appalled at the blatent rudeness and lack of concern.

Just ask anyone in NY about the tourists. They hate them. Before they're allowed to visit this country, there should be a mandatory Manners 101 course and an exam from a pamphlet titled Common Courtesy for dummies.

Naw, brutha. I don't think NYC'ers would be taking a tour in a city where they live.

I composed a blog about NYC, but never could get the damn thing to work. Too many photos or too much text or something. I eventually gave up and shelved it.

EDIT: There are all of Americans that need to take courses in manners. I ride the train to and from work everyday, and last week there was this guy taking up two seats on a train full of commuters. This guy was loud and obnoxious speaking loudly into his cell phone, and when his conversation was over, we would turn up his music as if the entire train car ask him to do so. When somebody looked over to him, dude stood up and shouted, "YOU DO WHAT YOU DO!!! YOU DO WHAT YOU DO!!! AND I'LL DO WHAT I DO!!! DO WHAT YOU DO!!!"

Last year, there were a group of kids being loud and rude. A gentleman with a European accent asked the kids if they could keep it down, and one of the kid responded, "Who do you think you are?" And all the kids got louded and more obnoxious.

Here's a video of a dude smoking crack on a San Francisco lightrail train.

Talk about being rude and obnoxious.

LOL! So because they thought I was Shaq, that means they don't need to say "excuse me" or it's okay to cut in line in front of me, bump into my wife or walk in the middle of a photo op?

Yeah, but that sort of thing is not exclusive to Japanese or Euros. Plenty of Americans do that too.

Most Americans are apologetic after noticing they strolled into a photo op. These people couldn't have cared less.

Perhaps we happened to run into a bad batch of tourists. Either way, I still enjoyed the trip despite the rudeness and lack of common courtesy.

Glad to hear. However, it maybe a cultural difference. I mean, in Japan and Europe personal space isn't an issue and bumping into people is just a way of life that requires no apology.

I think you can stay in New Jersey and take the train into NYC.

You should just blog about your trip to NYC and limit the amount of pictures.

If cultural difference is the case, someone should teach them about "When in Rome."

My friend in NY that's coming out for the WonderCon suggested we stay in Jersey, but for our first time in the Big Apple, we wanted the entire NY experience and ambiance... just minus the inflated Hotel cost.

The blog was finalized months ago and is sitting in an email somewhere. I think the text expands the blog parameters since I tried eliminating all the photos and it still didn't work. Still, the visuals and text go hand in hand. I have no idea how I crammed all of that content into the SDCC blog.

I recently asked about what the text and image limts were, but never received a direct answer.

I've been in Rome, and Americans did not do as the Romans. There are alot of Americans that travel abroad and act obnoxious and get frustrated when they can't find anyone that speaks English. I heard these American complain about Rome while waiting in line at airport security. Additionally, some Americans would say "EXCUSE ME!!!" when their being bumped around at a train station.

I think New Jersey would be the economic choice for another trip to NYC. My wife stayed in Jersey a few years ago while she was in town for her cousin's wedding. However, she didn't help the stereo type of Asian drivers when she was on the Jersey turnpike.

BTW, I like the term "turnpike." It's not use in California.

sounds like a bunch of kids on either the J or 7-trains to me.

Im being 100% honest when I say this: there used to be a tshirt sold here that read "Welcome to NYC" on the front, and on the back had ".........now get the FUCK OUT!!".

that shirt was a best seller for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.
