I just purchased my 1 Day ticket online. It sucks that you get charged a dollar something for the transaction fee. I'll report back tomorrow night.

Big Wow! ComicFest wasn't anything near WonderCon as there were not big panels or move previews. It's was probably the tenth the size of WonderCon, so you could cover the entire floor in about 20 minutes.

Big Wow! is for the true comic book collector looking for discounts on older issues and some figures. However, all the good deals were probably taken today.

I was disappointed that Humberto Ramos didn't have prints with him to buy. Additionally, I was bummed that Greg Horn and Joe Benitez (Lady Mechanika) did not show up.

On the plus side, I did find a good deal on some Marvel Legends figures. I also got Adam Hughes, Humberto Ramos and Frank Cho to sign a bunch of comic books. The best print that I got was from Eric Basaldua of Mary Jane Watson. Dude has some really great nudes of Black Cat, Catwoman, Mary Jane Watson, etc.

We only saw about 8 people in cosplay which included Valerie Perez (above).

I would only recommend BigWow! if you looking to do some shopping or planning on meeting on some of the artist listed (that did show). The free swag included a plastic green lantern ring and a plastic black lantern ring. There was also giving away mini-Green Lantern mini posters. Which I have extra if anyone wants one.

I had a pretty good time shopping around and meeting some of the artists, as the wasn't much of a crowd.

Overall, I enjoyed the event, but if you don't attend you wouldn't miss anything.

So, Big Wow! ComicFest was held in Exhibit Hall 3 of the San Jose Convention Center.

The size of the Convention floor was about half a football field. And as you call see from the photo above, it wasn't very crowded.

But you could find good deals on Trades and older comic books.

You just have to dig and search for the deals.

Adam Hughes holding up two of the several books I asked him to sign.

Frank Cho signing several of my books.

Humberto Ramos holding up one of the X-Men books I asked him to sign.

Eric Basaldua holding up the signed the Mary Jane Watson print I purchased from him.

Chris Williamson signing a free print.

        Me interviewing Sylent.

        Lesser known artists

        Various merchandise.

Some of the handful of cosplayers.

Thanks Darth for the posts and pics. I was not able to attend but sounds like it wasn't too big a loss. However, my 9 year old daughter and I enjoy going around and collecting very simple head sketches of various super heroes for her little collection, so with the smaller crowd I'm sure we would have had a lot of accomodating artists. Would have loved to have Humberto Ramos do one of the X-men or Frank Cho do an Avenger or Michael Golden do Rogue. Maybe next year!

Anyways, Darth it seems like you had a nice time so that's cool. So now it's the countdown to the big one! Just 58 days away!! Oh Yeah!

As Primus said, this show was for the true comic fan. There was very little Hollywood presence here murking up the scene. If comics are your thing, this show is for you.

As far as a quick review, I enjoyed the show. There were several big-named artists on hand (Frank Cho, Adam Hughes and Ramos) signing books and vendors with pretty good deals on toys and back issues. This was the true comic fan's show.

The best thing about this show was there wasn't a huge crowd. You could wander around the convention center and not bump into anyone or get pushed around for some exclusive.

Like Primus, I took a few photos at the show:

My boy Derek who owns Comic Ink in Dublin. Too bad they misspelled his store name. How you misspell "Comic" is beyond me.

There weren't many cosplayers on hand, but the ones that did dress up were fairly decent. She was cute.

Always been a fan of Static.

              Justice League Europe... or something.

Go! Go! Power Rangers! Zach was a cool cat. My wife and I took a pic with him at the Anime Expo last year in Los Angeles.

Tasha Yar from Star Trek. Not to be a prick, but she was looking really old and haggardly. She didn't doll herself up or anything. It was like she just hopped out of bed and went to the show like she didn't give a damn.

Nakia Burise, the Yellow Ranger was very nice, sweet and cute. We had a very pleasant conversation and she let me take this snapshot of her for free. It turns out her folks live right around the corner from me! Small world.

She was adorable. Not sure if she's Stargirl or a Cap. chick.

E-Bas as he calls himself has some beautiful artwork. This is a print I purchased from him. He'll be at the SDCC where I may purchase some more of his work.

Some books I got signed by Frank Cho and Adam Hughes.

Last, but certainly not least, my pic with hottie cosplayer, Valerie Perez. Since this might show up on somebody's website later down the road like so many pics before, I might as well display this here to minimize the backlash.

              Deuces.

For the most part, I enjoyed myself at the Con. However, Greg Horn and Joe Benitez not being there really bummed me out. I checked out Greg Horn's website yesterday, and he did not have San Jose listed as a tour stop for him. So it makes me wonder if BigWow! knowing false advertised his appearance.

Definitely counting down to SDCC. Humberto Ramos didn't have any prints on Saturday, but they would have some on Sunday. However, I wasn't going to attend Sunday's show, so I asked him if he'll have some prints at SDCC and he said they would. I'll pick up some then.
