This is just a hop, skip and a jump away from where I live so I'll definitely be checking this out.
Stockton-Con is coming up at the Spanos Center on the University of Pacific campus in Stockton on August 5, 2012. The goal of Stockton-Con as a non-profit organization is to bring recognition to outstanding artists in the San Joaquin Valley area - and to give attendees the chance to experience Popular Culture (Comics, Card Games, Video Games, Cards, Anime, Manga, Science Fiction, Toys, Television and Movies).
It is also Stockton-Con's intention to raise awareness and funds in conjunction with the United Way and St. Mary's Dining Room. St. Mary's helps provides food, along with dental and medical services to people in our area that are homeless and working poor and need that little extra help. St. Mary's Dining Room, in conjunction with the United Way, will get half of every dollar that comes in from admissions and exhibitor revenue - and 100% of all money raised from our live auction items.
* First 500 people in the door get a gift bag with a pair of Stockton Thunder tickets and a pair of Pacific Athletics tickets - free comic books - over a $30 value
* More than 80 exhibitors and artists
* Kids drawing area - Kids 10 and under get in free
* Magic and Yu Gi Oh! Tournaments
* Guitar Hero area with nearly $1000 in prizes
* Art Contest - closed, but the entrants will be displayed
* Guest Panels - Guest of Honor Morrie Turner
* Special Guests -- JD Arnold, Kathy Garver, Timothy Green, Rich Koslowski, Mel Smith, Ken Thomas (Lazy Bones), Tim Vigil, Nathan Watson

* 501st Legion and Mandalorian Mercs costuming groups (Star Wars)
