    Nice!

Hopefully one of these years I'll make it to NYCC before it turns into SDCC where tickets will be hard to come by.

I went Thursday and Sunday. From now on, Thursday is the only day to go for me. Got to talk with artists and got some cool commisions done. I was able to hit every booth and check all the crap out. Found a good deal on an Animated Sinestro statue for $20. It was a great day. I was there so long I didn't go back Friday.

Went again Sunday, and screw that. It was so friggin' packed I hated it. Lines, crowds, couldn't see or do anything. Never again on a weekend.

WHERE: Javits Center, IGN Theater – 8pm
PRICE: FREE, with VIP or 4-Day NYCC tix
WHAT: Okay, fine, this is an event inside the Con; but it’s also a Ben Folds Five concert officially kicking off NYCC 2012, and that’s pretty sweet. Seating is first come first served, so line up now, probably.

    RINGERS TAKE MANHATTAN
WHERE: The Speakeasy at the Gin Mill, 422 Amsterdam Ave. – 8pm-11pm
PRICE: $25 advance/$30 at the door
WHAT: TheOneRing.net hosts their annual NYCC party, complete with food, drink, second breakfast, and some awesome prizes. Plus, the whole party is happening at 48 frames per second, which is probably really annoying!

    THE BIG NYCC PARTY
    WHERE: The Houndstooth Pub, 520 8th Ave. – 8pm-Midnight
    PRICE: $10
WHAT: Nope, your eyes don’t deceive you: this is the same exact location as the Mary Sue/Her Universe meet-up. This party, though, benefits The Hero Initiative, and features Image Comics superstars Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples, Justin Jordan, Tradd Moore, Sina Grace, and more. Side-note: I don’t know if you could head to the Mary Sue meet-up and sneak into this, but be nice, it’s for a good cause you jerks.

    DRINKS FOR A CURE
    WHERE: Idle Hands Bar, 25 Ave. B – 9pm-??
    PRICE: FREE

‘Batman: Arkham City’ Series 4, and ‘Arrow’ TV Show Statue

Burbank, Calif. – October 10, 2012 – DC Collectibles, the exclusive line of collector items from DC Entertainment, announced today it will reveal an extensive slate of new statues and action figures at New York Comic Con (Oct. 11-14). Big reveals include two entirely new, ongoing statue series, a new set of the bestselling Batman: Arkham City action figure line, and a new statue based on The CW show Arrow. The products will be unveiled during DC Collectibles official panel on Thursday, October 11 from 5:00 – 6:00pm ET in Room 1A06.

The new Superman statue line, coming in 2013, is similar to the hugely popular Batman: Black and White series. Each statue has a metallic finish and every month a new statue will debut – all designed by acclaimed creators like Jim Lee, Frank Miller and Lee Bermejo, with many more creators on tap for future statues.

The DC Comics Bombshells statue line, also coming in 2013, features various female Super Heroes like Wonder Woman and Supergirl – all modeled after iconic 1940s pin-up fighter plane artwork.

Both on sale for $25, this year’s Con Exclusives include the Aardman Batman Action Figure based on the popular interstitial shorts shown during the DC Nation programming block on Cartoon Network. The second Con Exclusive continues the new line of two-pack 3.75” action figures launched earlier this year. The new set features John Stewart and Atrocitus.

“This is one of our most exciting product slates to-date – we’ve got a lot in store for fans in 2013,” stated Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. “Our panel is a ‘can’t miss’ event for collectors – I’m particularly excited to show off the new Superman and Bombshells statue lines.”
