Ah, we’re catching up now. Apparently September was a slow month for me:

        [Rifftrax:] Light Blast (1985/2010)
“All roads lead to Rome and all bad cop movies lead to the docks.”
—Re-watched in prep for Retrocon (where Erik Estrada will be).

        Highlander: Endgame (2000)
“Life brings hope and pain, but revenge never brings redemption.”
—Another 25th anniversary I specifically remember driving myself to (and excitedly since it re-united the movie and TV continuities).

        Everest (2015)
“"Human beings simply aren’t built to function at the cruising altitude of a 747.”
        —10th anniversary.

        Steve Jobs (2015)
        “I’m poorly made.”
—10th anniversary. Still find this fascinating.

        The Black Castle (1952)
        “Will murder convince you?”
        —This week’s Karloff flick.

        [Rifftrax:] Lycan Colony (2005/2020)

“Do you have any idea what we are gonna do to you, if we find one itty, bitty scratch on ‘em.
-Let me guess. You’re gonna pound my face. Break every bone in my body. Then you’re gonna drag me across a gravel road and feed my remains to a warthog. Is that about right?
What are you nuts? This is the ‘90s. We’re gonna sue you.”
—Tubied in prep for watching Hack the Movies review in honor of Hulk.

        The Guardian (2006)
“When storms shut down entire ports, we go out. When hurricanes ground the United States Navy, we go out. And when the holy Lord himself reaches down from heaven and destroys his good work with winds that rip houses off the ground, We. Go. Out.”
—A lot of training camp tropes here, but pretty good overall.

[The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs:] Street Trash (1987/2019)
        “No! Not a shower!”

        Paths of Glory (1957)

“Don’t think of it as lying. Think of it as high stakes pretending.”
        —Okay.

        Sneakers (1992)
“I want peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
-We are the United States Government! We don’t do that sort of thing.
You’re just gonna have to try.”
        —R.I.P. Robert Redford.

        Sicario (2015)
“You should move to a small town where the rule of law still exists. You will not survive here. You are not a wolf. And this is the land of wolves now.”
—10th anniversary. Shared with the folks (might’ve been too dark for them).

[Rifftrax:] Jurassic Shark 2: Aquapolypse (2021/2025)
“At what cost the environment this will have.”

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

        —R.I.P. Robert Redford.

        Frankenstein 1970 (1958)
“I must admit that perhaps he was not too scrupulous about where he got his raw material.”
—Not great. This week’s Karloff flick.

Ah, my movies for this month so far…

            The Sorcerers (1967)
“From now on, we are going to control your mind.”
—Youtubed this week’s Karloff flick about a hypnotist that can share a hippie’s mind.

            The Black Phone (2021)
“He was an idiot, but he was my idiot.”
—First of horror friend and my October double-feature. Liked.

            Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
            “Your father’s left me.
            -He’s divorcing you?
What a horrible thought. No! He’s dead!”

            Commando (1985)
“I eat Green Berets for breakfast.”
            —40th anniversary.

[Rifftrax:] Vengeance of the Dead (2001/2020)
            “The ghost got a text?”

            House of Dark Shadows (1970)
“Vampirism is not a disease, Julia.”
—Preparation for meeting Kathryn Leigh Scott again (at Monster Bash).

            [MST3K:] Werewolf (1995/)
            “The cheeseball’s got no class!”

Secret of the Blue Room (1933)
            “Good night, Irene.”
—First film at the autumn Monster Bash, though it was actually from Geoffrey’s collection on preview night.

The Man Who Turned to Stone (1957)
“I’ll bet you a box of girls’ scout cookies that somebody died last night.”

“You don’t just enter a room, you invade it!”

            -That’s my line.”
—I thought this was much better than the original (though no classic). Definitely helped that making it a metasequel let them fix some weaknesses.

[Rifftrax Live:] The Giant Spider Invasion (1975/2019)
            “‘Looking at nothing’—aka, Wisconsin.”

“I tear torture out of myself by torturing you!”

            Dark Shadows (2012)
“They tried stoning me, my dear. It did not work.”
—Wanted to watch the one other DS movie since I watched the original two.

I stepped up my game for the rest of October (including 6 for just the 30-31):

                The Prophecy (1995)
“Do you believe that you are a part of God’s plan?
                -That’s a complicated question.
                No, it isn’t.”
—I missed the 30th anniversary, but (thanks to Paramount+) at least got to revisit it for it spooky season.

                Cronos (1992)
“You may continue the game. After all, you have the toy. But I’m keeping the instructions.”
—For my birthday, I did a vampire double feature I bet few people have done.

                Vampire in Brooklyn (1995)
                “I already had Italian.”
                —30th anniversary.

                The Hunt (2019)
“I did not want to mess up your big grilled-cheese speech, but, oh, you done f***ed up, lady.”
—Peacocked it this time with the fam.

                The Climax (1944)
“Stifling in here, don’t you think?
                -Not for baritones.
                —This week’s Karloff flick.

                Saw II (2005)
“But most people have the luxury of not knowing when that clock’s going to go off.”
                —20th anniversary.

                Elvira’s Haunted Hills (2001)
“Lucky for you, I come with my own air bags!”

                Sinners (2025)
“You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.”
                —Very good.

                [Rifftrax:] Hack-o-Lantern (1988/2022)

                    Death Wish 3 (1985)
“It’s like killing roaches; you have to kill 'em all. Otherwise, what’s the use?”
                    —40th anniversary.

                    Go West (1925)
“Some people travel through life making friends wherever they go, while others … just travel through life.”
—Centennial of the Buster Keaton classic. First viewing. Pretty good. Free on Youtube.

                    A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985)
“He’s inside me, and he wants to take me again!”
                    —40th anniversary.

                    Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000)

                    —Also 25th anniversary.

                    The Devil’s Rejects (2005)
“Last thing I need is horny robots running around.”

“All hail the man behind the grease paint!”
—Second time watching. It’s not bad, but I think the ending to The Devil’s Rejects was a better conclusion to the Firefly story.
