  • Scream 4 had a semblance of quality, unlike the train wreck that was 3. It was too meta for its own good, but it was still pretty entertaining.

That's fair. I'd probably put it above #2, but I'm not a big fan of #2 either. I could see others preferring #2 to #4 though.

      • I used to love Scream 2 but I watched 1 and 2 last night and now I think 4 is better than 2, I wish Netflix didnt take it off Instant

Watched the Lego Movie too over the weekend and very much enjoyed it. Everything is AWESOME!

            Lego Green Lantern was classic.

            • I really liked how EVERYTHING was made from LEGO (except the "relics"). That's one thing that I've always found mildly disappointing about the LEGO games, that so much of the scenery isn't actually made to look like LEGO.

Lego GL is in it?! That seals the deal.

Briefly. And he definitely isn't portrayed in a positive light. But he IS funny (or rather LEGO Superman's reactions to him are funny).

                  Great movie, though.

                  • Kick-Ass (2010)

"Hit Girl: Mhmm... but getting shot, Daddy... it hurt a lot more than when you did it.
Big Daddy: That's because I used low velocity rounds, child... he... he...
Hit Girl: You're the kindest Daddy in the whole world."

After reading the last issue of Kick-Ass 3, I felt in the mood to re-watch this (still haven't seen #2). It's funny how much Hit-Girls owns this movie.

[BTW: she really learned how to do that with the (blunted, obviously) knife.]

                      • @Mister Weirdo: what did you think of 8 1/2? Have you seen Filini's earlier work? It's radically different (his early stuff shows strong roots in Italian Realism, which is utterly gone by this film). Outside of Kubrick and perhaps Hitchcock, FF may've been the single most consistently great auteur to ever work in film.
                        =======================
Forgot I also watched this today:

                        Penny Dreadful (2006)

I didn't really like this trapped-by-your-fear (and a psycho hitchhiker) flick, but it wasn't horrible.

That was the first of over a dozen movies in my queue expiring in the next 11 days, this was the next:

                        Truck Turner (1974)

                        "It's another pisser."

This was a pretty bad blaxploitation but fun in its campiness. I can see why Hayes needed to go into cartoons for his acting career. It also blatantly rips off the much better work of Jack Jill (Coffy premiered the year before).
What of the more entertaining bits is seeing Nichelle Nichols (here between Star Trek the series and the movies) as a foul-mouthed madam.

I agree. I loved this movie. Lego GL is funny. I love the song, too.

                          • Fruitvale Station

This movie covers the last few hours of Oscar Grant's life before he was shoot at Fruitvale Station after being pulled off the train and detained by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) officiers. The depicts Oscar Grant as a struggling young man with a family to take care of, after getting fired from a job and serving some time in prison. Michael B Jordan gives a wonderful performance as Oscar Grant.

I didn't feel the movie really picked a side as to weather Oscar Grant was murdered or it was an accident, but rather lets the viewer make that decision. However, viewers will definitely feel Oscar's death was needless and very tragic.

I take BART everday that I goto work and pass by Fruitvale Station. In fact, I remember taking BART the day after the shooting of Oscar Grant. There are no memorials of Oscar's death, but the movie will be a reminder of Grant's death.

An okay (maybe) flick about 4 college students who go to a ghost town that it turns out had been destroyed by wolf attacks and the wolves are back.

                              • 6 Bullets- I have no idea why that's the title, but whatever. This had decent action, but the storyline was WAY over the top in regard to a one-man army kind of thing. Twas entertaining enough for a view, though. JCVD has kept himself in remarkably good shape over the years.
