"It's all between you and the car you build it's a bond, it's a commitment.
    -Sounds like a marriage.
-Yeah, but with cars when you trade up they don't take half your s**t."

    Inventing the Abbotts (1997)

"There's different kinds of love, darling. Some people you love no matter what, and others you love if the situation is right. To me, the best kind of love is the no-matter-what kind."

So, mankind had recreated the ice age in an attempt to reverse global warming. Since earth has turned into planet Hoth, the last survivors of the planet live on a train that circles the earth. However, surviving does not meaning living a quality of life as there's a struggle aboard the train.

      Interesting scifi flick.

      • Fruitvale Station - How that cop only got 11 Months for shooting a handcuffed kid in the back is beyond me. "I thought it was my tazer" is the biggest line of garbage... Even so, why would you taze a handcuffed person in the back?

"It's room service. Before I vomited I ordered scotch."

Liked this more than I expected.

          Good Morning Vietnam (1987)

"Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P."

          Forgot how good this is.

            • The Terminator

I remember how awesome this film was when I watched it many times in my younger days. And since there's a new Terminator flick coming out this year, I asked my wife if she ever watched the original. She did not, so we watched it. It didn't hold up for me. The acting is pretty bad, some the score and special effects are very outdated. The love affair is somewhat implausible.

However, I think film's story is forever enduring.

                "I f**ked up.
-Yeah, but you gave it a 100% effort!"

This is one of those "classic" 80s movies I missed. It was decent, though Roberts' character (Daisy) is annoyingly cocky and self-absorbed. Then again, there seems to be this secondary theme where characters are lost in themselves while all the important stuff is happening to their friend or sister. I guess that's not a bad message--to get over ourselves because while we wallow in our own petty misery, the best or worst moments of their lives may be happening to our closest friends and family.

Really? I still love that movie. Even though #2 is sleeker I still like #1 best. Everything about it is fun to me. I never get bored watching it. I even like the repartee between the cops. I won't claim all the acting is great, but I don't get caught up in that.

                • SW: Revenge of the Sith- I realize that they had to make sure that everything connected from Episode III to IV, and tied up in a neat, little bow, but when you think about it, why would Kenobi take Anakin's saber after their fight (especially considering all the misery and death its responsible for)?.. and for what reason would Bail Organa have C-3PO's mind wiped? Why did Yoda give up so easily? He and the Emperor were evenly matched the way I saw it... and "She has lost the will to live" (when referring to Padme) is just stupid.

Yes, really. I did give The Terminator 4/5. It's my favorite Terminator movie. It's just so dated.

My personal takes on your questions:

I think Kenobi wanted something to remember the good part of his brother before the betrayal, and also, it was a "you don't deserve this glorious weapon anymore" whether Anakin lived or died on Mustafar.

Bail: In a deleted scene, Bail, Padme, and Mon Mothma met secretly and kind of diffused the outer shell of Palpatine's scheme, and he personally knew the extent of the Emperor's destruction of the Jedi since he saved Obi Wan and Yoda (and then saved them again after their simultaneous duels). Basically, he was in the know, and since 3PO was hanging around the whole time, he wanted to make sure none of this got out as he continued masquerading as part of the Senate.

Yoda: I would say Yoda backed down as a life insurance deal, since he didn't know what the outcome would be between Anakin and Kenobi. A "just in case" policy to make sure the Jedi continued as a people and practice.

Cool. The club is sooo dated.

BTW: my take on the "isn't that fast to fall in love" question would be this: Sarah is specifically shown to be unlucky in love (Ginger makes a comment about how crumby her sort-of boyfriend is for cancelling on her again). So, she's vulnerable and here comes a guy who saves her life, kicks butt, and literally traveled in time (with no hope of return) for her. I make no claims on understanding women, but that's pretty damn romantic.

On his side, she was the object of his desires. She was the great, take-charge mamma who made their savior. From his side, it would be like obsessing over Helen of Troy or Joan of Arc or something and then actually finding yourself alone with her one day.

Yeah, but I think that's Sylent's point. I mean even if you were friends with a guy who became a Nazi with you really want to take the gun he killed Jews with as a memento of better days?

Mmmm......I think I might if that gun also served most of its existence to protect the Jews as well, since it its original mission and original owner were both steeped in a time honored tradition of something so grand and positive as the Jedi Order. And also, I think it was on its way out, anyways, since Sith use the red sabers. I'm sure it would have only been a matter of time before Palps said "Listen, Vader....you gotta ditch the blue shit. We aren't happy go lucky people, you know."

                          • Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

"I am not some starry-eyed waif here to succumb to your pelvic sorcery!"

Macked, Hammered, Slaughtered, and Shafted (2004)

"Never let them kill your spirit. They might take your money. They might take your car. They might take your house. But never let them kill your spirit."

This is a documentary (I could only find it on Youtube) about blaxploitation. It basically just looks at the social aspects (positive and negative), so I wouldn't recommend it just as a history of the movies themselves (like so and so starred in this and we'll now tell you how it was made). The interesting aspect is all the interviews with the actual actors, actresses, and filmmakers and their take on those film.

                              • Apparently I'm the only one watching movies lately ...

Full moon choice was an okay cheap werewolf flick

                                Wolf Cop (2014)

"My what big teeth you have and other things."

Captain America: The Winter Solider (2014)

"But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not."

I have to say I don't quite see why so many people think this is the or one of the best Marvel films. Mind you, I still liked it, but I didn't love it. I thought it was about on par with the first (maybe a little less fun to me without the Nazi fighting). Maybe it would help if I was a Marvel fan and knew who the Winter Soldier was before or maybe I just don't dig the big conspiracy stories in the Marvel U (since I think Avengers is overrated too--again, good but not my favorite). Also, Bucky's tactically stupid rock-band hair annoyed me.

                                Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)

                                "The saw is family."

                                ================================================== ==================================
Missing in Action 2: The Beginning (1985)

"Begging the captain's pardon, but kiss my black a**."

                                Bound (1996)

"We make our own choices, we pay our own prices."

This was quite good. I thought Joe Pantoliano was especially great here.

                                Coffy (1973)

"This is the end of your rotten life, you motherf***in' dope pusher!"

Really wanted to watch a blaxploitation flick after that documentary today and although I have 4 or 5 to choose from, I've watched 3 of them recently. That's okay, because this is probably my favorite anyway.
