Ah! Thank you for clearing that up. I'll have to specifically watch the ending again to see the SMA. I liked the movie, and knew it had major street cred before I even watched it. It's really too bad they never made an actual sequel to it.

Well they did end up doing the prequel, which is at least decent. It's really a love letter to the Carpenter film; they reverse engineered all of the set at the Norwegian station from plans fans drew up at the Outpost #31 website. Just to make it match up and make the fans happy.

          • I'm not a huge fan of the genre. I don't even like Rocky 3 through 5. But there are a few that just get me deep down at a level where it's just okay to be a guy and like a guy's-guy flick.

That flick was cool, too, but I was hoping for something after the original, linear-wise. Sometimes, I get so sick of words like "prequels" and "reboots" that I'm just like "will you continue the fucking story in normal fashion please!" LoL. Especially when there is so much further adventure to be thought up and explored with something that remains essentially undefined, like the actual organism in The Thing.

But I do give props to the prequel in any event. It was interesting and I'm glad I bought it along with the original.

Tazz is right on this one. It probably won't be, but Warrior should be this generation's Rocky. I've only seen a hand full of MMA fights and I still loved that movie.

                          Barely a movie.

Didn't MST3K do this one? Or was it a sequel to this?

The sequel. Actually, it's the third movie in the series they did but for some bizarre reason the third movie is called Boggy Creek II and that's the one they riffed. Only the basic concept (a bayou version of Bigfoot) seems to have carried over the movies. The first one is a faux documentary, but it's so, so cheesy and cheap. It's hard to see or hear most of the time and the creature rarely shows up and then is only a shadow or a sound.
The one MST3K did is about a research team that goes to study the creature.
