  • Dead Ringers (1988)

"Separation can be a terrifying thing."

I think I can honestly say that this is my favorite movie about drug-addicted twin gynecologists.

Hah! That's a good Cronenberg flick, haven't seen it in awhile.

      Me:

I'm currently loving the Busiek Iron Man Omnibus, so Iron Man 2 became a got-to-watch. I'm a little weirded out by some of the negative views toward this film, it only lags in quality when compared to the movies it's sandwiched between imo. Killer superhero flick in its own right imo.

        • I watched Iron Man 2 for the first time (after stupidly listening to bad reviews from friends for years) and loved it.

I enjoyed that movie quite a lot. Mickey Rourke was the bees knees.

Great stuff! Plus, the drunken battle War Machine and Tony.

I liked it better than 3 but the first one was the best, IMHO.

I love that movie. That dialogue, and that exchange in particular, is golden.

Yeah, the pace of it in general is great, but the back-and-forth between Clooney and Pitt is especially fun.

"That was the agreement: a meal and a place to sleep."

Roger Corman's most expensive film, starring George Pepard as Space Cowboy (first mercenary recruit) that the protagonist Shad (Richard Thomas) finds to defend his homeworld from the evil warlord Sador (John Saxon, the sheriff-dad from A Nightmare on Elm Street). Robert Vaughn plays Gelt, basically Han Solo, and Sybil Danning plays Saint-Exmin, a space Valkyrie. Then there are some others along for the ride, of course.

Overall, this is a fairly good Star Wars knockoff (SW itself being a knockoff of a ton of other things). It has a lot of production talent and some big names starring, but maintains the B-movie schlock that Corman is known and loved for. It really is one of the best Star Wars copycats you can find, and the Blu-ray transfer from Shout! Factory has phenomenal quality.

When I get a chance, I need to watch the extras.

                      Highly recommend.

"Just remember this: in this country they drive on the wrong side of the road."

LOVED this movie. I'm glad I saw the remake first because I kind of liked it, but it's so different from the original, notably in tone (this is mostly a comedy). It's amazing that 34 years earlier, the big chase is better in this one!

                            DodgeBall (2004)

                            "Thank you, Chuck Norris!"

                            Godzilla vs. Monster Zero (1965/1970)

                            "Whatever's fair, pal."

                            The Great Gatsby (2013)

"Reserving judgments is a matter of infinite hope."

                            Ugh.

My third time watching, and I still love this movie. I know the science can be a bit wonky (to be generous) but I don't care.
