I'm trying to remember if I saw this on your recommendation or not. Just read up on it at wiki and it does sound familiar, but I'm not 100% sure. Will have to view it again.

Couldn't have seen that one on my recommendation since this was the first time I saw it. Although, I liked it and would now recommend it to people who like this type of movie. It's a police procedural, where the killer is an alien parasite (you learn this early) jumping from one body to another.

I saw it because people have discussed Jason Goes to Hell as ripping this off. I believe the writer claims he hadn't seen it, but I don't buy it. There are two many similarities.

This is funny because it's the second time I've heard someone say JgtH rips off another movie. I have this book called 999 Horror films you must watch or something like that, and the reviewer said JgtH rips off another movie called "The Keep". I've not seen that, either.

Hmm. I've seen The Keep, but the connection isn't as obvious (as The Hidden) to me. I'll have to think about that one. Mind you, I'm not a JGtH hater like a lot of people are. It's low on my list, but I respect that they did something different. And I suspect some of the copy cat nature came down to the script being rushed and rewritten.

I thought JgtH was an excellent movie in the series. I mean, seriously, before there were spoilers, who could have seen the FBI Sting coming? I didn't, and it certainly was a high point. I guess my only gripe about the movie was that there wasn't enough actual Jason in it, but that doesn't make me a hater, just a critiquer. LOL The whole family ties thing, going back to the homestead, finding what was in the basement......that's some good stuff right there.

                  • Watched this the other day finally. Really dug seeing a young John Cusack, and it was fairly decent 80's teen film. I'm not especially surprised that Savage Steve Holland went on to have a career in animation though. The trippy animated sequences, and particularly that freaky looking designed squid, make me think of someone who wants break into the animation business.

Well, I upgraded from VHS to BD, so I was pretty pleased. I can't say it's perfect, but I wasn't thinking about the transfer last night.

I haven't seen that in years. Doesn't that have the bit about the kid's face getting stuck if he makes weird faces?

Yeah, it's also the movie where there are several scenes of skiing, and a sequence where Cusack's character imagines himself playing with animated food at the burger joint, he just got a job at. Really freaky!

                          • Barbershop- the next cut - This was just okay, but a bit too feel-good and unrealistic at the end. Gangs don't let you just walk away without consequences.

                              "I saw her."

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), Daniel Radcliffe will always be....you know who.....my subconscious always equates him with the role that defined him for 8 damn movies, so it is a bit hard to see him as any other character, but I have to say, Iwas pleasantly surprised by this movie and how good of a job he did getting into character. I read up on Wiki that he purposely saw psychologists to prepare himself for the role, and obviously something paid off.

The story was above par, but not terribly exciting (think a low key version of Mama), but what really impressed me were the atmospheric changes between the town and the house, even though there was doom and gloom all around. The characters were interesting enough to keep my attention, and the bittersweet ending seemed a natural conclusion even though I didn't see it coming.

Far better than a bunch of Wiccan kids in a big castle fighting Satan.
