  • Don't Breathe (2016)

Literally the story of Old Man Dave Cormier. I joked that my dad would relate to the vet, and he thought this film was pretty messed up (to be honest, it really is, zero characters to relate to in the main cast, everybody's basically an asshole).

Film had good suspense and some very good visuals, really makes you feel paranoid in a sense.

    • The Blob (1958)

"Don't bring the fathers into this."

Watching this after being in the mood for it for days (and heightening the mood with Jame Rolfe's old video covering Blobfest). I would've done it before, but I had a bunch of Neftlix movies to get through plus ones the family wanted to see. As it is, my mother (who just bought a Blob t-shirt for monsters cons) will probably be sore I didn't wait to watch it with her, but that would've been even longer. Now, I want to watch the '88 movie! [edit, and so, I did]

      The Blob (1988)

"I'll never see a movie ever again."

      Dementia (1955)

I can't give a quote because this experimental-type movie has no dialogue. It's under an hour and is hard to describe since it includes flashbacks, dreams, and delusions. I wanted to see it because it's the movie playing in the theater in the original Blob (though under its alternate title of Daughter of Horror).

      4D Man (1959)

"A man in the fourth dimension is indestructible."

AND, this one was made by the same people who made The Blob. Not as good, but not bad.

      Dinosaurus! (1960)

"I didn't know you were an anthropologist.
-Not a very good one, boss. I ain't been to church in years."

Again, by the guys who made The Blob. Alright B movie. Workers at an island resort discover perfectly frozen dinos and one caveman in the bay, all of which revive when drudged, rained on, and struck by lightning.

        2016

Deadpool: LOOK! I'm a teenage girl, I'd rather be anywhere than here! I'm all about long sullen silences, followed by mean comments, followed by more silence! So what's it gonna be: long sullen silence or mean comment? Go on, take your pick.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead: ...You got me in a box here.

        Deadpool: AH-HAA!

Whenever I need a laugh, this film always does the job.

        • Starkweather (2004)

"You killed that boy for me?
-I swear with God as my witness, the only reason I did that was for you.
That's the sweetest thing anyone's done for me, Charlie. I love you."

Not a great movie, but alright. I knew about this real-life killing spree before, but man is it a sobering reminder. It's bad enough to know there are serial killers out there, but to think that such a person could find another who was equally turned on turned on by cold-blooded murder is truly disturbing.

          Happy Death Day (2017)

"Would you stop looking at me like I just took a dump on your mom's head?"

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988)

"My appearance is kind of a shock to everybody."

            • The Neanderthal Man (1953)

"You have no vision, only sight!"

              Alien vs. Predator (2004)

"I'm sorta partial to the penguins."

              Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)

Yep. But I still found it a good watch. Not sure yet if it's a movie I'll buy (maybe if it were cheap). I don't know. I love Scarface and that movie has no redeemable characters.

              • It's a good "romantic comedy". Hepburn's Oscar was well-deserved.

                  • A Wrinkle in Time - Overall found it to be a mix bag. Visually it was a gorgeous treat, but as an adaptation, I was slightly disappointed. I guess the biggest issue has to do with how hard it is to adapt the novel. You can go so many places with it. The dialogue was clumsy at points as well. Storm Reid and the rest of the actors were great however. - 6 / 10

Pretty good mystery/comedy/buddy-cop film set in the late 1970s. Gosling is the perfect annoying dick, whereas Crowe is more relatable to the viewer. My dad laughed pretty damn hard a bunch of times.

Also watched the last part of the Sci-Fi Channel film King Cobra (this was made before they changed their name; I saw it years ago and when we got done watching TNG, I asked if dad was putting on Comet to watch a schlocky flick and he decided to, so we watched Mr. Miyagi get bitten by a shitty snake monster. I'll give a more-detailed tear down of it tomorrow.

                          • A solid spy thriller that surprisingly is quite hard R, and violent. Lawrence is very good, and I love Newton Howard's overture at the beginning. My biggest complaint however is that I didn't buy the romance between her and Edgerton. It seemed fake, even if that appeared to be the intent.
