Strangers on a Train (1951)

Re-watched for the 70th anniversary. Good stuff.

Coca-Cola Kid (1985)

"I like a man who arrives before his print out."

Had heard about this obscure movie from a Youtube review and watched it just before it expired on Tubi. Eric Roberts plays a trouble-shooter/sales manager for Coke who goes to Australia to fix a no-sales zone. Strange, but pretty good. The cover probably makes it look like more of a rom-com than it is (though that is an aspect of the film).

Dr giggles. Campy as hell but love 90s horror

I haven't seen it in years, but I wouldn't mind picking up a copy some day. As you say, it's campy, but still fun.

As a drama about a raging old alcoholic dirtbag wishing for a better life, this movie works very well -- it's just not the baseball movie I was expecting. There's only like 5-10 minutes of baseball footage in the whole thing, all shown as flashback or newsreel. Instead it's a movie about a dying old player and his biographer. Not bad, but not at all what I wanted to see. Such as it is.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

30th anniversary and I remember going to see this that summer with the same parents I watched it with Thursday night.

The Stanger (1946)

"What happened?

Orson Welles flick about a an escaped Nazi (himself) living incognito in a small Connecticut town, but pursued by Edward G. Robinson as a war criminal. Re-watched (on Youtube because I don't have a working VCR for my tape) for the 75th anniversary.

The Cannonball Run

"You take your law and order seriously in this town?"

An illegal cross-country car race, anything goes, starring a who's-who of famous faces.

My dad busted a gut when Jack Elam showed up. Dude looks like a human toad with sideways eyes and has hilarious lines. The whole film is very entertaining with some very nice vehicles on display and some pretty good stunts. I tried to pick out Sinatra but I think I missed him.

Jackie Chan nearly crashing his car while watching porn was one for the ages, too.

And good old Dom DeLuise was the real star and hero of the film. He's probably Chris Evans's personal hero.

Willy's Wonderland (2021)

"He's not trapped in there with them. They're trapped in here with him."

Basically one of 3 cash-in films (the others are a short film called "The Hug" and The Banana Splits Movie) to Five Nights at Freddy's. In this one, Cage plays a (westernlike) silent drifter who gets roped into cleaning up an old kiddie restaurant to fix his car, but it turns out the animatronics are possessed by killers. Lots of potential, but doesn't entirely live up to it. I still found it worth the watch and could even buy it if it was on sale.

A comedy/horror film that wasn't really funny nor scary. Basically a color by numbers film that tried to do something weird alongside Stranger Things but never caught up to said series. It passed the time.

Not really horribly bad, imo, just pointless and kind-of boring.

I don’t know that I’d be that negative, but it was definitely not a good film. I don’t regret having streamed it, though.

I kind of felt bad for the kids when the owner of the small convenience store got put down by blondie vampire.

Watched the trailer for Halloween Kills last night. They're clearly leaning more heavily into the supernatural aspects of the franchise (which admittedly were hinted at even in the '78 original but weren't really pushed very heavily until the Cult of Thorn's full reveal in 6). Myers being supernatural in his regeneration and immortality has always been there, we just keep forgetting for how long and to what extreme, so Kills reminding us is rather appropriate.

It's stunning how this 40-year cycle is happening again (78-18, 81-21) and everything is in twos (78-81, 78-18, 18-21). I'm cautiously optimistic for a good viewing.

Fun fish out of water comedy about a New York mobster and his family going into witness protection in Utah. Noteworthy for its fairly accurate depiction of both good and bad Mormon locals, something most Mormon movies ignore as a reality. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but having recently found my mom's old DVD copy in a storage box I decided to watch it. Not bad and certainly worth a few laughs.

Werewolves Within 2021




Ok, this one was funny. Made good on the comedy aspect. Basically a "whodunnit" game until the end (usual formula). Dumbass but sweet New Ranger guy is hilarious along with white trash couple, gay couple, lady who just lost husband, mailperson, cougar and young husband, and evil greedy corporate guy. My favorite was the hillbilly with a gun.

Really fun paint by numbers action comedy.
Mostly predictable but still enjoyable.
Worth a watch and a few laughs.
