    • Videodrome (1983)

      • Trilogy of Terror (1975)
        “Hooray for Friday night.”

        Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021)
        “I'm not vermin!”
-These two were a double feature for my friend and I, who get together maybe every other month for horror flix. The first is a classic TV horror he hadn't seen and I picked up on a Kino Lorber sale. The latter was a Shudder-only genre-bending cheapie with Nick Cage. It was worth the watch, but not great.

        The Thing (1982)
“I know what you mean, Blair. Trust's a tough thing to come by these days. Tell you what - why don't you just trust in the Lord?”
        –40th anniversary

        Blade Runner (1982)
“Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave.”
        –40th anniversary

Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982)
“We find your American beer like making love in a canoe. It's f***ing close to water.”
        –40th anniversary

        Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
        “Your reputation precedes you.
        –Thank you, Sir.
        It wasn't a compliment.”

[Joe Bob Briggs’ Last Drive In:] Castle Freak (1995)
“It’s hard to believe I’ve inherited a castle.”

        The King’s Man (2021)
“Reputation is what people think of you. Character is what you are.”

        [Rifftrax:] Alien Outlaw (1985/2015)
“Directed by Ridley’s redneck cousin, Pooter Scott.”

        Men in Black (1997)
My attitude is: don't start nothing, won't be nothing!"
        -25th anniversary.

        Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002)
        “Relax, we’re with the government.”

Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence (1992)
“Oh great, I shot my lawyer.
-F**k ‘em. Get another one. They’re free.”

        Jaws (1975)

        “I don’t need this working-class hero crap.”

[Joe Briggs’ Last Drive In:] Uncle Sam (1996)
“I wanted to be like you.
-You have to be dead first. Are you volunteering?”

        [Rifftrax:] Oblivion (1994/2017)
“Weird that there’s a terrible movie out there called Cowboys and Aliens and it’s not this movie.”

        • Thor love and thunder. I liked this a lot. Only complaint is the meh comedy. Its pretty heavy for a Marvel film.

          • [Rifftrax:] Oblivion 2: Backlash (1996/2018)

“The Good, the Bad, and the Straight-to-Video.”

More prep for next week's GFest:

"Maybe I don't want to run."

R.I.P. James Caan. Not his best, but the only one I owned that I hadn't already watched. Howard Hawks directs. About 3 NASCAR drivers and three eventual girlfriends.

              • Universal Soldier (1992)

                “What accent?”

30th anniversary. Picked up the 4K.

                G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987)
"Make like an amoeba and split."

Watching/reading Cobra Convergence 6 (a Joe-based fan event) this month from Hooded Cobra Commander 788 put me in the mood to re-watch the movie.

                My Bodyguard (1980)

                Tron (1982)
                "That's a really big door."

                • The Terminal (2004)

                  • Moon of the Wolf (1972)
“You’ve got a murder on your hands.
                    -Great. Just what I need.”

My choice for this month's super Buck Moon. Had to watch a short(ish) werewolf I could stream while in my hotel. A TV movie I had seen before.

                    Mad God (2022)
"Your land shall become a desolation and your cities a ruin."
-Phil Tippit's stop-motion passion project. Weird (surreal) and sick, but good. On Shudder only, for now.

Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956)
"Neither man nor his machines are able to stop this creature."
-Last movie in prep for GFest.

                      • Joe Kidd (1972)
Walk a straight line through a cow pasture you gotta step in some cow pies, but you get where you're going.”
—Watched with the fam for the 50th.

                        Tube (2003)
“Is your heart as messy as your bag?”
—An alright Korean actioner about an assassin who hijacks a subway train and the rogue cop who has a history with him. Might have the funniest stereotypical fed-up captain. This guy literally starts climbing over his own desk while chewing out the main guy.

                        [Rifftrax:] Arachnia (2003/2016)
“Holy sh*t. Gasoline; it’s gonna to blow.
—‘It’s gonna blow’ is what every crew member told their family while working on this film.”

Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)
"What plan will you follow next?"
—One of two movies I watch for the anniversary no matter whether it's a milestone or not (like 63).

                        Twister’s Revenge (1988)

                        “Nobody likes a smart**s truck.”
—The last feature from Arrow's Bill Rebane set. A lot of the humor fell flat for me, but alright.

                        • What makes Plan 9 so "good," so to speak, is that it's fast paced. If it were slow, it would be unwatchable.

                          • Sinister 2 (2015)
How do you make the dreams stop?"
Alright. I liked how they explored the mythology/rules a but more.

                            Blacula (1972)
                            "He's one strange dude."
                            50th anniversary (July 26).

                            Nightwing (1979)
The winged animals are Yehwah's messengers."
                            R.I.P. David Warner.

                            Air Force One (1997)

Peace isn't merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.”
–Re-watched with the fam for its 25th anniversary.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982)
"Well, I always just thought if you see somebody without a smile, give 'em yours!"
-40th anniversary. For an R-rated musical about the sex business, it's really quite sweet.

Yeah, it's only an hour and 18 minutes long with a bunch of characters and frequent cutting. It's too fun to truly be the worst movie ever. Whatever the worst movie is, it's something you'd stop and never finish.

Memory: The Origins of Alien (2019)

“When a story comes from multiple people, and beyond the agency of multiple people, it has a special existence.”
—Not a straight making-of documentary as such, but more a look at how O’Bannon, Giger, and Scott came to together to create the work and what those themes are. On Shudder. Recommend for fans of Alien and those who like to think deeper on their sci-fi/horror.

Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961)
