“Well, you can never have to many outfits.

It was too long with the site down. This is just October's movies:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
“Well now look, you boys don’t want to go messin’ around some old house. Those things is dangerous. You’re liable to get hurt.”
—50th anniversary and start of the viewing for spooky season.
Godzilla Minus One Minus Color (2023)
“Isn’t he mean and scary?”
[Rifftrax Live:] Amityville Horror: The Evil Escapes (1989/2022)
“The music is desperately trying to make it seem like something is happening.”
[Svengoolie:] Black Friday (1940/2024)
“Evidently my friend has gone out.”
Slaughter Studios (2002)
“Gary’s got a camera, it’ll work! Tell ‘em Gary!
- I’ve got a camera it’ll work.”
—Tubied as this week’s Corman flick. Not great, but some fun references to old Corman flicks.
The Earth Dies Screaming (1964)
“Whoever did it, won the war. All they’ve got to do is to move in and take over, and then it’s every man for himself.”
—60th anniversary of a low-budget, small-cast post-apocalyptic movie. Free on Youtube.
Predator (1987)
“I wouldn’t wish that on a broke-dick dog.”
—I almost always include a series in October among my horror/monster watches. I’m super familiar with these films and this one in particular, but I’ve been in the mood since watching Prey a few weeks ago. Also contemplating getting another 1 or 2 NECA figures.
Saw X (2023)
“This is not retribution. It’s a reawakening.”
—Liked.
Ed Wood (1994)
“Eddie’s the only fella in town who doesn’t pass judgment on people.
-That’s right. If I did, I wouldn't have any friends.”
—30th anniversary.
[The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs”] Dr. Giggles (1992/2024)
“That crazy broad sees rapists in her hemorrhoid cream.”
King on Screen (2022)
“The reason any filmmaker wants to adapt Stephen King is the material is so good.”
—Documentary on Shudder just about the movie versions of Stephen King. Pretty interesting.
Evil Dead Rising (2023)
“Mommy’s with the maggots now.”
—I’m glad they moved out of the cabin and added some new grossness here. Good.
The Fly (1958)
“Where’s she gone?
-Into space, a stream of cat atoms.”
Dinocroc (2004)
“I like Dick.”
—My Roger Corman flick this week. Okay by-the-numbers giant croc flick, but the CGI creature is bad. Free on Youtube.
1984 (1984)
“If you want a vision of the future, Winston, imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever.”
—This production is notable not only for releasing in the titular year but filming in London during the dates of Winston’s (played by John Hurt). Also known for being Richard Burton’s final feature. Free on Tubi.
The Haunted World of Edward D. Wood Jr. (1995)
“To me Edward Wood was the Orson Welles of low-budget pictures.”
—Re-watched this documentary (which is in one of my Wood box sets) in honor of the centennial of his birth.
Hellraiser (2022)
“Save your breath for screaming.”
—Finally able to see this (and liked it) while I have Hulu (with Disney Bundle).
The Grudge (2004)
“It is said in Japan that when a person dies in extreme sorrow or rage, the emotion remains, becoming a stain upon that place. Death becomes a part of that place.”

“This film’s stance is firm: guns are awesome!”
Sabrina (1954)
“Nobody poor was ever called democratic for marrying somebody rich.’
—70th anniversary.
Searchers 2.0 (2007)
“Gas. Revenge. Justice.”
—This week’s Corman production. A weird Alex Cox flick.
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
“You’re too stupid to talk, Dale. Shut up.”
It’s Alive (1974)
“Hunting and killing babies doesn't seem to be my specialty.”
—50th anniversary.
Predators (2010)
“That’s what they're counting on. They want you to feel something for this man. To be human.
-And what are you?
Alive.”
—I think this is the most underrated of the series, though it probably ranks 4th for me. [Since I love the series, that’s still well regarded on my list.]
The Cursed (2021)
“We will all pay for the sins made by our elders. We’re all going to die.”
—My full moon watch (from Hulu).
Suspiria (1977)
“Susie, do you know anything about witches?”
The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb (1964)
“This is 1900, you have to think modern.”
—60th anniversary. 2nd of Hammer’s Mummy series. Free on Youtube or Tubi. My mother thought it wasn’t very good, but I still liked it on my 2nd or 3rd watch.
Goosebumps (2015)
“Steve King wishes he could write like me.”
The Predator (2018)
“That’s not a predator, that’s a sports hunter.”
—The movie that teaches us autism is a superpower. Since I watched AvP and Prey over the past couple months, this ends my review of the series. Got to open my new NECA Assassin Predator while watching.
Dracula (1931)
“The blood is the life.”
—Watched for the Halloween season and for Bela’s birthday.
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018)
“knew I came up with that first.”

“She had to remind herself who her son is.”
Nefarious (2023)
“God made you in His image; we remade you in ours.”
—Christian/right movie in which a psychiatrist evaluates a death-row inmate claiming to be demon possessed. Much more Bible-based in its demonology than most.
The Blob (1988)
“Garden Tool Massacre, it’s your basic slice and dice.”
—Upgraded to Shout’s 4K recently and re-watched for the Halloween season.
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953)
“I feel as though I’m leaving a world of untold tomorrows for a world of countless yesterdays.”
Rawhead Rex (1986)
“Are there any connections between the murders?
-Yes. They’re all dead.”
—Irish folk horror. Based on a Clive Barker story, but they made so many changes (I believe his was much more phallic) that he all but disavowed it.
Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)
“You will die for the disgrace of your forefathers!
-I didn’t have four fathers! I only had one father and I didn’t know him that well!”
—One of those films I just didn’t get around to until (thanks to Youtube) now. Probably would’ve enjoyed it more if I had nostalgia, but not without fun.
The Mouse Trap (2024)
“Why did I get stuck with you? I’m too pretty for this.”
—I thought this slasher-cashing-in-on-public-domain worked better than the Pooh one, but only just.

—70th anniversary.
Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995)
“Yes, we have Nosferatu. We have Nosferatu today!”
Haunted Mansion (2023)
“And just to confirm; the only thing available to us is this French Vanilla Yankee Candle?”
—Pretty fun.
[Rifftrax:] Hack-o-Lantern (1988/2022)
“Being evil and being a massive dork; not mutually exclusive apparently.”

-Neither. My wife.”
—25th anniversary of the remake, which has more in common with the original than I remembered.
Saw (2004)
“He doesn’t want us to cut through our chains. He wants us to cut through our feet!”

“I am done with man.”
—30th anniversary.
The Incredibles (2004)

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Originally posted by Space Cop View PostGood to hear from another comics fan. I think what it's about is that The Incredibles has all the fun of Silver/Bronze Age comics, a great Fantastic Four-like human drama, and the complexity of stories like Watchmen and Powers (with the story of outlawing the supers). That's a lot to cram into a family-friendly film just under 2 hours. Kudos to Brad Bird and company for not talking down to their audience.

Brats (2024)
“To be a part of anything that anybody still talks about 30+ years is a special thing.”
—Andrew McCarthy’s documentary looking at the phenomenon of the Brat Pack. Pretty good.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964)
“Something is wrong with our children. They eat not. They sleep not. Their only interest is watching meaningless Earth programs on the video.”
—60th anniversary of the holiday classic and cinematic debut of Pia Zedora.
[Into the Dark:] Blood Moon (2021)
“What the hell have you brought here?!”
—My werewolf pick for the month.
Apartment 7A (2024)
“I’m always right.”
—So so. They made unnecessary changes to what we know of Terry’s (Rosemary’s predecessor) story, but it wasn’t horrible.
Night of the Comet (1984)
“You were born with an a**hole, Doris, you don't need Chuck.”
—40th anniversary.
