...There is no way David is what created the Aliens. The Engineers were most likely reverse engineering them for their own bio-weapons. Also, though it is a very stupid movie, Prometheus actually gives you all of the Alien origins you need, without actually spelling anything out. It seems pretty clear from all the clues. Think about it.

So David reverse engineered their reverse engineering? Did he think he was creating them? In that case, the xenos are just some ancient, perfect-predator species? That could explain things, but I don't feel its clear in the movies.

...LV-426 from Alien and Aliens and LV-223 from Prometheus are both in the Zeta Reticuli System. Go ahead and look it up. The Engineers were about ready to bombard Earth 2000 years ago with the black bioweapon goo (according to Ridley at the time, this was because Jesus was an Engineer and we crucified him) when there was an accident and they themselves got exposed. Different Juggernaut ships (same as the derelict from Alien) take off in an evacuation, the ones that even made it to the Juggernauts. Clearly one solo Engineer who made it off wasn't so lucky, got chestbursted by being contaminated by the goo, crashed on LV-426. Meanwhile, at the same exact time, another Engineer on LV-223 put himself into cryosleep, hoping for the best..

I don't mind some mystery in a movie, but I wish he spelled more of this out. Where did he state this backstory?

From a story point of view yea its way better than the original.The original was basically go investigate behind enemy territory and bring back survivors. In Prey its about a persons right of passage. I think naru is just as equally remeberable as Dutch. Ill always love the original but i liked this one a lot more. If Disney continues to flesh out bad ass leads like this one ill definitely be invested. I mean how crazy Would it be if the next one is set during the American civil war as i said before Spartans in Greece ect? Hell they can even be the djinn in Islam or something. Playing in the sandbox of time periods can open up so many ideas For predator

I can't evaluate that until I see the movie (hopefully in a few weeks), but I think as a fan one of the strengths of the original is that Dutch's team is interesting before they're hunted. I would watch and enjoy a movie where the team had to rescue the prisoners, discover the coverup and get out alone. I do get, however, that the sequels have to build the mythos of the Yautja.

In Prey they touch on naru the main character that becoming a hunter isnt just hunting but also surviving. Like her tribe pretty much rips on her for wanting to be a hunter instead of a healer. Shes more resourceful than Dutch in that area.

A friend with a Hulu account came over and we both watched it. I definitely liked it. It's not my new favorite, but it was good. I liked how the tech looked new, but possibly older (like the arrow weapon). The face could've been better, but it wasn't a film killer.
