^Well, first there's been 11 of them before this, so I think a serious option would be to let the franchise die. Not everything has to continue forever. Cut your losses at some point and have a definitive last one. It's so annoying these days that you buy a "definitive" blu-ray box set and three more movies come out.

Second, I just wanted a different ending. Maybe they could've beat him down and implied he's dead; ending with him being carted off. And skip that crap from Laurie about him not being human and immortal and all. Or, commit to that and prove it--like someone takes out his heart (that's not survivable) and the last shot is still one of him getting up (but not killing a main character two second before the credits).

To be fair 2 through reserection were erased and no longer canon. As for the ending to kills why give a huge payoff to end the second film in a trilogy? Big difference between FvJ than HK. The anticipation alone for FvJ had been building up for years, and it was not just a movie, but a movie done right, with a beginning, middle, and end, plus a damn interesting plot. I love that movie personally and was satisfied with the ending because Jason is not necessarily portrayed as evil, but a force of nature that can't be reckoned with. He was unjustly killed as a child, not born a murderer, but made one by the neglect of society. See, that's easily understandable. Freddy was a bastard from day 1 as outlined in his backstory, he was the true evil who victimized innocent kids like Jason. So in this sense, Freddy lost and there was some righteousness to be had at the end, even with Robert Englund's exit wink.


HK was Michael killing for no indiscriminate reason from beginning to end. There was no plot. The biggest plan was to have the town kill him, and look how that turned out...a useless gesture. The main heroes were stuck in a hospital for most of the film, and Laurie felt like a cameo appearance. However, please keep in mind what I said earlier about how this movie will ultimately be perceived- it is dependent on what happens in Ends, so opinions are subject to change.

HK was Michael killing for no indiscriminate reason from beginning to end. .

Wait wait for years people wanted Michael to go back to being how he was in the original 78 film wich was a force of evil a nature with no motive and we get that here so help me understand because a lot of people who trashed this film are speaking from both sides of there mouths so if Michael killing for no reason is pointless wouldnt you say the same for the 78 film and ignore the entire loomis speach about Michael having the darkest eyes , the devils eyes?. As for the town i really dont see how the conept of the towns people who are good people wanting to defeat evil is a bad thing. Think of it like Michael as a evil infection plauging a town wgere good people have tio kill a killer. Michael effects them to change. Look at the apprentice of loomis when he stabs hawkins and says ah so thats what it ( murder) feels like Towns people has a concience Michael dosent just like all real serial killers

It's true that he's unexplained and I like that, but there's a difference in the number, goriness and tone of the kills. This was much more of a body count slasher like the Friday the 13th sequels (see the review I posted). That's fine too (it's popcorn fodder), but it's more in line with the less well regarded sequels than the original.

I like the town mob thing (just not how it was resolved), but it was done in #4 with pretty much the same effect--they're useless and get somebody killed. It's also silly how Laurie whips up the mob but then tries to stop them and thinks she's somehow above them for that.

But I don't blame someone for liking this one. It has a lot of fun horror stuff.
I don't think any of us is going to shift each others' ranking of it (which very well might change with the next one anyway, as Jeff points out). You're just more into shared universe and franchise building than I am.

Ok and again what is exactly wrong with a higher body count? Every one knows more death blood and gore in sequels similar to how action films push to surpass the film before it. Think of it from a grounded real world scenario._.Your a serial killer that fails gets locked up in a asylum for 40 years you wouldnt think 40 years of rage bottled up wouldnt cause a huge massacre? As for Friday the 13th Jason has a motive to kill wich was seeing his mom decapitated as a kid after assuming he is dead. Michael is more hey i have no motive or a heart for compassion wich makes him more terrifying than Jason or even Freddy. I feel Michael meyers is more believable because serial killers like that do exist. I assume we all agree serial killers are indeed evil with the acts they do. I noticed in slasher films the serial killer isnt charming or manipulative or have to tell there crimes wich serial killers are and do do . Bundy is a prime example. I recently marathoned a bunch of documenteries on serial killers. Btk was fucked up.

Heres the thing and im not trying to be cocky but people hating this movie have done nothing to make it better for them. I really want to see the haters do a actual story outline on how they feel it should be

It's the writer's job to do that. That's what they get paid the big bucks for. My only job as an audience member is to view what is presented, maybe have some thoughts on it, and share it in a thread without getting labeled "a hater" even though I clearly dislike the film, which I am allowed to feel. Just like you are allowed to like it. I'm not trying to start a blood feud here, Tazz.

The 78 original was new and fresh. It was groundbreaking. There was a story to it, a plot. It might not have necessarily been totally explained by the end, but at least there was subtext to what was going on. In contrast, HK was begin-kill-kill-kill-townspeople-kill-kill-end. I don't know how much clearer I can make myself in explanation without invoking the six rites of Satan onto a cat to enable you to see the difference in what you are comparing.


So without developing a hater migraine over this, I'm bowing out of the conversation. I hope Halloween Ends changes my mind about this, because it certainly has the potential to do so.

Theres no feued at all im just seeing all this negative stuff by other people not just here who say things like Michael meyers needs to die and stay dead and the franchise needs to end . Your not the only one who said it so im not attacking you when i say haters. You known me for how long? You know if i had a issue with you id simply single you out im also just saying if every hater thinks they can do better im all ears. All the haters should give a story draft on how it should of been because i noticed fans of anything tend to think they know better than the paid writer. Im just as guilty . I miss the days when a movie can be mindless fun where we as fans ( myself included) dont get worked up on how something should of been in film. For example i think the thing is very overated its great people appreciate and love it but im eh on it. I tried watching it i just Couldn't get into it. Hardcore fans will think im nuts but im sorry just not feeling it. For me i think fans ruined it for me because they overhyped it as like the best thing since sliced bread. I also think i prefer slasher horror more since i grew up on them
