I hope the hard light stuff come with the expansion pack. That might make me give my 15 a month to them instead of Blizzard.

I doubt it'll be anything complex. If it's just a trinket, then it's probably going to drop an anvil or one of the other hardlight attacks the lanterns possess in the game. I'd much rather have an entire lantern class, and I'm good with waiting for the expansion to get it. (Real expansion, not a content update.)

It's the difference between getting it done right and just giving you something to pacify yourself.

I, Booster Gold, can garauntee there won't be a Lantern "class." Why? Because the classes in DC Universe ONline are not set up that way. We're not rangers, knights, or clerics. We are quite basically tanks, healers, or controllers, and we can all be DPS if we want. There are no other possibilites for classes. Now if you mean skill sets, well, that would require making a new character since we've already chosen Fire, Ice, Gadgets, Mental, Sorcery, or Nature, but no one will want to abandon their character which they have put so many hours into to create a Lantern character to begin from scratch. Everyone will want their already made characters to become one. Thus the trinket idea is the only really viable one. Perhaps the trinket will be dedicated DPS, not alllowing for stance cycling, but give nthat they already have a Manhunter trinket (Which admittedly does nothing but make you look like a Manhunter until you turn it off), I'm willing to bet Skeets here that this is how its done.

~Excuse me, sir, do you think thats wise?~
Of course, I'm that confident in this. Beides, they'd have to have their own Skeets to
put up in return for the bet, so its not like they can actually take me up on it.
          ~I see, sir. Well done.~

sounds like some of the typical gripes ppl have w/mmos nowadays: going hardcore on it leaves U feeling like ya did *everything*, and so U end of leaving it alone until a content pack of some type is offered.

(what is up with this thing not letting you reply sometimes....)

First of all, skill set and class are the same thing. Paladin, Cleric, Hunter are just pretty names for tanks, healers and DPS. By class, obviously I'm referring to Tank, Healer, Controller, DPS. Yeah, everyone can DPS, but unless you're speced as pure DPS, you're better off sticking to your role.

Second of all, they are introducing a few new skill sets over the next couple of content updates. Lightning, for example, is supposed to be one of the next ones released.

As for a DPS trinket....I have a hard time believing that anyone who plays a role wants a DPS trinket that's pretty much hampered by playing your role. First of all, you'd limit the hardlight powers to just doing one offensive action and maybe providing some stat and appearance changes. Why on earth would anyone want a cheap trinket experience when they can have a full blown class experience? Really are we so desperate for a ring in this game that we'd settled for a watered down green/yellow ring?

It's not unheard of for an MMO to introduce a new player class in the middle of a game. I remember starting a death knight in WoW, even at level 80 I wasn't bothered with starting a Death Knight since they started Death Knights at level 55 for exactly the reason you're stating. That's one route for all the whiners who think starting an alt in DCUO is overwhelming. Although, honestly, after two months a damn near full set of T2 gear, a full set of T1, all the collections/briefings/ and investigations and hefty portion of the feats done....there just isn't enough content in this game to keep me playing much longer....except I'm moving on to alts and so are a hefty portion of the people who've been playing since day one.

For prospective, it takes less then three days to level 30 a character out (maybe a week or two, if you don't play but a couple hours a day.) And less then two months to fully Tier your character out....that's hardly an overwhelming task.

From the prospective of other MMOs I've played, it's not unheard of.

Is a power ring not just a trinket that gives its bearer powers unlike what they already have?
How could a new seperate skill set be even remotely more logical than a trinket you can turn on and off?

                  ~Thats telling him, sir.~
                  Thank you, Skeets.

I think with the story setting currently, the Green lantern stuff doesn't really work. I mean you're playing a hero granted powers by nanobites rather than given a power ring. I mean sure in the comic about the game both sides (Yellow and Green) in the future get wiped out and Luthor takes all the yellow rings for himself to combat Brainiac while Brainiac seems to have nabbed all the green rings for himself. (Apart from Hal obvious who gets pwned by Black Adam) But I think it's highly unlikely they'll appear in game though who knows stranger things have happened.

"In fearful day, in raging night,
With strong hearts full, our souls ignite.
When all seems lost in the War of Light,Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!
                    "
I Can Rp you under the table so don't even try anything.

I have the 3 month savings plan, but haven't played it in over two months! The game grew boring to me just like City of Heroes and Champions did. NOW if the rumors of hard light powers DO come into play, then I will be back!

I, Booster Gold, think that given the story of the game, it would make perfect sense for humans who have been infused with nanobytes to start getting rings. Why? Because look at the GL and Sinestro missions you do as a hero and villain. There are plenty of rings of available, and while their not fully charged as they should be, the corps' are still going to need replacements. Queue fearless and fearmongering people for positions! We got the rings, and now you're a part of our corps!

And now to further explain why a trinket wouldn't just work, but would be ideal. It is already established through the game that changes can be made to your look and powers simultaneously (Etrigan even does it to you during a part of the main solo story). It is also already established that some trinkets are toggled, rather than simply activated, such as the Manhunter disguise I have previously mentioned (there are also toy disguises and such, as well). Combine these two already present functions of the game with a power ring, and viola! You have a togglable GL and/or Sinestro corps power ring in your inventory (and likely on everyone's skill set)!

Now you just set it up to recognize your stance, and give you a set of new abilities that share core abilities (such as those seen in use by the corps members in game already), with an added two that are exclusive to your stance, and there you have it! You have all the powers of a ring bearer for when they're needed in various missions that would be released thereafter, but you still have your other abilities and whatnot that have become your staple of your own personal main character (we all have one, don't lie).

This is ideal becasue you don't have to create a new character unless you REALLY want to, and it makes it so you can use the powers whenever you want, but not forcing you to run around with them. Honestly, I can't see the logic behind adding a new "hard light" skill set when something as easy and simple as this could be implemented with the same effect, but without the added burden of doing all that solo crap again (unless you choose to do so, yourself).

And thats all I, Booster Gold, have to say on the matter.
                        ~A bit longwinded, sir, don't you think?~
Really, Skeets... you need to learn to shut up.
