Dead Space 2 update:

1) Fully upgraded the PC, although I really wish I could hit up the damage one more time. At least playing on normal difficulty means the enemies aren't as brutal to either kill or get hit by.

2) Got sucked out the same decompression window, twice. The first time, I got cut in half at the waist, and the second time both arms were cut off.

3) Reached the Tripod Nest, but since I was killed the first time (Tripod pinned me and stuck its claw in my mouth, then yanked my head off) and the second time by the elevator, I decided I'd give it a break tonight and continue tomorrow; besides, I'm watching Airplaine! II: The Sequel. It's a much great space adventure.

Having checked around a bit online, I've heard you just leave the first Tripod alive and the rest down even spawn, you just use a lot of Stasis to keep it off your ass and the whole fight's a breeze. I'll try that next time.

4) I checked online, and apparently I need a save file from DS1 to unlock the Refurbished PC skin for DS2, not beat the game with just the PC. Looks like I will be getting 1 and 3 in the near future.

1) Finally got a better suit: the Vintage, with a boost to armor and inventory, and a discount at the store. Since I had about 120k credits, it was a very easy purchase. I don't like its design as much as the Security suit, but it has better advantages.

2) Going through the Ishimura, and damn is it creepy. Almost got killed in that cryo-chamber, stupid enemies kept sneaking up on me, exploding and crap. For a second once I realized where I was, I thought I'd have to fight that regenerator enemy from DS1. Shit, am I glad I don't have to (yet?).

Hitman: Blood Money is more complicated than just a prequel. The missions are stretched out over his career, some take place probably before and after 1 with the ending being the latest event in his career until Absolution. So, it's like a prequel and sequel wrapped in one.

Jesus fucking Christ, that regenerator enemy from Dead Space 1 decided to make a return, and it forced me to use up nearly every bit of inventory I had!

Nearly 200 rounds of ammo, a whole piss-load of health packs, a bunch of Stasis packs---I had only maybe seven rounds left, barely any health by the time I got away from it. Hopefully it doesn't follow me past the zero gravity section, because fuck, I'm half-broke just restocking!

Okay, after doing a little browsing on the DS wiki, I found out about the most badass suit DS2 has: the Riot Security suit. It's almost as beneficial as the Elite Advanced Suit (which has 10% damage boost to all weapons), and looks helluva cool.

I'm now going to try my damndest to beat the game. The final level is still bullshit, as is the final boss, but I know I can pull it off with just the plasma cutter. Hell, if I can beat the final boss in Crysis 3 and Ninja Storm 3's terrible final battles, then I know I can pull this off.

Beat the game a few hours ago, been blasting the shit out of Necros on a normal New Game Plus. Loving the shit out of the Riot Security suit.

Also fully upgraded my RIG and Stasis and have been buying various weapons so that I can kill Necros with all of them and nail a bunch more achievements (need to fully upgrade 3 of them, though).

Just got Think Fast and my first (and probably last) Pulse Rifle kill. Totally missed the Going for Distance achievement, but I can just start the game with a new save file tonight and quickly get through it.

Change of plans: I'll do Distance next time around, and in the area where you first encounter the Tormenter, I used my Pulse Rifle to scratch off a few more Necros (mostly tried using the Detonator, though that didn't work out as well as I wanted; it has to be fully deployed to count for the achievement).

Also, the DS wiki says there is no forewarning of the Tormenter's presence, but that's actually not true: it smashes the door in the room where you first encounter the Stalkers. Somebody didn't edit that entry properly.

After that boss fight, I actually explored the room I smashed through, found a bunch of money and a Power Node. Can't believe I missed that the first time around, but I did miss the one floating in space in the first airless section.

Right now, scouring eBay for good prices on the first and third games. I really would like that Refurbished PC skin, as well as completing the story by playing 3. I keep arguing with myself about actually playing 1, but if I get it, I probably will at some point or another.

Update: bought the third game for about $12 on eBay, still hesitating about the first one, since I only need a save file; I'll try to find it dirt cheap, probably won't even need a box for it (pretty sure I can buy a spare DVD case bundle at Wal-mart or something).

Also getting close to beating 2 again, almost to chapter 11 and the Elite Advanced Suit. Will make subsequent runs much easier.

Decided to gradually build up not only weapons but a fuck-ton of money, health, and ammo, to eventually take on Zealot mode. I figure I can handle it with an absurd about of inventory gathered over time.

I won't touch Hard Core, though. That mode is just too demanding.
