First details on Destiny's April update


Damn, I hope that Taken shader isn't near-impossible to get. Pretty sure it'll be a shader, anyway.

it'll probably be given out at the end of the quest line like the other special shaders

Fallout 4's Automatron DLC is out, apparently...and it isn't very good. Ten bucks for three hours can be reasonable in many cases, but in this one there's a lack to the quality. I don't think this will sell very much, and hopefully the next two are much better.

Just saw my dad. He literally was concluding the DLC when I walked in. Apparently it took him almost the entire day to go through it, and the final battle was hard even with plenty of prep. Going to have to tell my stepdad it's worth getting after all.

We also watched a playthrough of P.T., the Kojima/del Toro game that will never be. Hopefully a lot of what was used there gets recycled into a future project, because it was a fair bit unnerving and very well done.

Also, just found all gold chests in Destiny with my Hunter. You get a set of armor, some weapons, plenty of glimmer, and a thrust bike. Everything is very low-level, though, so it really isn't worth keeping. Only four of the chests are found in Strike missions, so you can grab the rest in patrols, aside from one on the Moon, which you need to grab during The World's Grave story. Going to need to do this all twice again with my Titan and Warlock.

And now I have twelve more months of PS Plus. All that's left is grabbing some games off PSN.

So I saw my dad again for lunch, and we watched some YouTube videos. I managed to get him to watch a trailer and about 25 minutes of Doom footage for the new game, and it looks incredible. Need to put down a reserve.

I did remember to look up John Romero's new Doom level, E1M8 "Tech Gone Bad" I think it's called. Watched this one dude play through it with only a handful of adjustments (he at first could jump, but then changed his mind and blocked that, only allowing himself to aim up and down for better shooting). He died quite a lot, because the level is fairly hard even on "normal." I still think Romero did a good job of it, though it was a little cramped. I kind of want to hunt down the PlayStation 1 ports of the old Doom games now, but I know it wouldn't really be worth it. Oh well.

You only need to get the gold chest on one character if you're doing it for trophy and grimoire purposes. Since all of the gear is common it's does you no good at this point. The only thing you need to do on multiple characters at this point is collecting 48 calified fragments so you can get a touch of malice.

My dad and I have watched a lot of them on YouTube, and some are pretty funny.

*Todd Howard as Jesus on your TVs
*Hello Kitty color pattern for power armor and Pip Boy
*Turning Jangles the Space Monkey doll into an actual companion
*Playing as Darth Vader
*Turning Dog Meat into a gorilla

And a load of others, naturally, including useful ones like being able to fast-travel while indoors.

I don't play on PC myself, but just a cursory look on YouTube or the Internet in general will definitely produce some fascinating and helpful additions to the main game.

A look at the new gear and some Q/A on new and returning items


I like that some of these weapons are returning, and love that the Vault and reputation systems are being boosted (especially the Prison, god the leveling is so slow if you don't do the special rounds). And the new armor looks very nice.
