Call it redirected aggression or I don't know what, but I found something oddly funny in the game about calling a whore into a stolen car, watching the car rock back and forth, then following her, shooting her in the head and getting my money back. That's so, so far from my life.

It's OK. It's not nearly as awful as a lot of people make it out to be. The cover system is a welcome addition, and some of the missions are really fun. There was just a lot of added fluff that was terrible, but the good thing is that all of it can be ignored.Originally posted by Michael Heide View Post

By what definition are the people they are talking about "gamers"?
I mean seriously, "Around 70 percent died to the first Goomba." "Many thought the coins were enemies and tried to avoid them."
Perhaps I have a wrong impression of what constitutes a "gamer". If it is just, "Anybody who is at all willing to try to play a game of some sort" then I guess this study WAS of gamers.
I always kind of assumed the term implied people that spent a fair amount of time playing games, and were somewhat skilled at it.
I don't really consider myself a "gamer" as my skills are too poor for a lot of platformers, and I don't get all that much time to play, yet from the sounds of the people they were studying, I would seem like some sort of gaming god in that group...

was playing on a 3rd-party L4D server @ 2am this morn, and the guy had tweaked the game so that:
-there were no Boomers
-there were multiple & SIMULTANEOUS Hunter *and* Smoker encounters
-the Tank was red, so that should be all I need to say on that
-Survivors could be revived if dead (which was pretty neet)
and the biggest, and best/worst thing he'd changed was: Infected swarms lasted *atleast* 10 MINUTES long....which also included Hunter/Smoker incursions.
my party died twice trying to get out of the apartment on _No Mercy_. it took us 75mins to complete that scenario (there was a Tank *right outside* the s.r. in the hospital run). we tried to do _Death Toll_, but that sewer part was MUR-FUCKING-DER, and by the time we'd managed to clear that and move onto the next part, a swarm hit us while we were in the s.r. .........at which point I saw that it was almost 4am and I knew I would simply NOT complete this senario & get some sleep b4 work (me am have droopy eyes right naoes), so I bailed.
but dammit, I wanna do that shit *again*.
