I'm actually cutting back on my posting in general. At some point all the posting I was doing went from "this is fun" to "man this feels like work"

Yeah, the art of suitmation slowly winding down to a halt does feel sad in alot of ways. I would hate to see it completely go away, but I guess CGI just makes everything easier to achieve ...

With Shin, I really looked hard to see if there might be a closer cinema to me that I could get to, but the closest was a good 2 hour drive, plus I wasn't that familiar with the area either. Also, if I am remembering correctly, things were fairly hectic in my life right around that time as well, and that surely didn't help.

Can't wait to see it though! I've heard some opinions about it, and it seems like people certainly have a varied reaction towards the film.

Thanks. Honestly, I didn't have the opportunity to check out Shin Godzilla when it was made available in theaters for a short time. I am impatiently waiting for it to appear on DVD/Blu ......

With Suitmation, yeah I read that it wasn't used for Shin. I guess you can guess Godzilla: Final Wars not only marked a long hibernation period for Toho Godzilla, but also one that marked the conclusion for suitmation as far as Godzilla movies go.

Oh, not just the diligence and creativity applied to the "camerawork," but just how I would watch Real Ghostbusters or TMNT or some American cartoons, and then saw how batshit insane and incredibly smooth and detailed anime was. It blew my mind. I soon exchanged Saturday morning cartoons of the usual variety for the Sci-Fi Channel's "Saturday Anime" block, and got so much awesomeness out of it.

Heh, we were writing our messages simultaneously.

And no, haven't seen Steamboy. I also forgot to recommend Guyver (they made an anime of that, I think it was a short series).

Been a very long time since I've seen Appleseed, and I think there is a movie, series, and comic. Dunno, and don't care, since I only would be bothered to watch the film again.

Akira is often cited as the single greatest manga ever. Six volumes, each one comparable to a damn phone book. It isn't literally the longest series, but it is very deep in its detail and complexity, and the film has a tiny fraction of it. Does a damn good job, though, with amazing animation and designs, really shattered my child-self's views of cartoons.

Glad to hear you liked it. The first is a very good film and an anime classic. The second one I also love, and I got a small kick out of how the antagonist in each film has the same initials.

A clown is funny in the circus ring.
But what would be the normal reaction to opening a door at midnight,
and finding the same clown standing there in the moonlight?

When ads come up on Hulu I like to click that they are not relevant to me. I keep hoping if I do this for every ad they'll stop showing me any.

Seriously, though, what happened? You used to be able to pick a single one-minute ad for a whole show. Now, they seem to have as many ads as TV.

Since I now have posted on several threads about my Neo-Victorian aesthetic (including pictures, like my profile), I thought I'd blog (my first) on the topic for future reference and to avoid an overly long post.

Here's how I got to Neo-Victorianism:

My first step was a hat. Until I got to grad school (seminary) I wore an assortment of baseball caps like everyone else. While at school I noticed the occasional guy with an actual man's hat and decided that was for me.
