btw, I just finished the William Everson 'Classic horror film book', found decent cheap copies of his second book and the Denis Gifford Illustated history of horror films for dirt cheap through Amazon and have just started the Gifford book on Karloff "The Man, The Monster, The Movies".

Also btw, the voting for the annual Rondo Awards is going on now, so you should check that out. I have a friend that needs to be 'written in' as international fan of the year (last year's winner actually started a thread to lobby for her for write-in votes.) She has a great Karloff tribute site with hours, days, weeks and months worth of material, info, pics, sound files and links. Anyway, since you're a member of the monsterkidclassichorrorforum, you should certainly be voting!

LOL...funny you would bring that up...already have an order in with my friend at the LCS. It's suppose to have some really good stuff in it and appears that the cover art may be worth 'the price of admission'.

    LOL at the 'true fact'.

What's really amazing is that, in spite of the fact that you can see a shadow on 'the sky' when BK topples the big cemetery monument, whoever actually painted the skyscape did fantastic job...just beautiful, especially now that you can see the detail. Same with the sets, miniatures, etc.

It makes me wonder if they will 'fix' the scene in Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein where you can see Lugosi's reflection in the mirror. (In the Man with the Golden Gun - did Christopher Lee cast a reflection? )

Yeah, I've got the Legacy Collections, but even the dvds that have come out since then are better prints...and the blu-ray just blew me away (except for the silliness with the tree)...and even times when you can see that it's a painted backdrop rather than a real sky just adds to the theatricallity of it (in a good way).

Casual BoF fan??? What's that??? LOL

Clear as bell in sight and sound. There is one little controvertial edit which involves disappearing shrubbery, meant to "fix" an odd jump cut, which is silly because Whale practically invented the artistic jump cut.

I managed to get it from Amazon for the usual cost of a dvd. I would have held out to get the big box set with Frankenstein, Bride, Mummy, Wolfman, etc. since they've got it for about half of the original price since xmas, but it's still a pretty big chunk of change for me right now.

Makes more sense than a clear win for G for sure. As that would have came across as a cop out I think. Especially after having KK so built up to take on G in the film itself.

Do you happen to remember the talk about whether KK or G should win? I'm just surprised there was even a discussion in Toho about that considering G's portrayal up to that point, along with the popularity of KK.

That sounds amazing to me! What was the consensus to your questions about Godzilla's brain size? Or what about Toho debating who would win? I'm kinda surprised there would even be much of a debate since Godzilla was still very much a villain at that time, and Kong the more sympathetic of the two, but that's interesting. KK vs G was a favorite of mine growing up, and it's still fun to watch. Sounds like that discussion panel was alot of fun. Especially with knowledgeable fans.

When ads come up on Hulu I like to click that they are not relevant to me. I keep hoping if I do this for every ad they'll stop showing me any.

Seriously, though, what happened? You used to be able to pick a single one-minute ad for a whole show. Now, they seem to have as many ads as TV.

Since I now have posted on several threads about my Neo-Victorian aesthetic (including pictures, like my profile), I thought I'd blog (my first) on the topic for future reference and to avoid an overly long post.

Here's how I got to Neo-Victorianism:

My first step was a hat. Until I got to grad school (seminary) I wore an assortment of baseball caps like everyone else. While at school I noticed the occasional guy with an actual man's hat and decided that was for me.
