  • Brightest Day = Not a Green Lantern story???

Just wondering if anyone knew why Geoff Johns had Brightest Day have nothing to do with Hal Jordan or anyone in the GLC for that matter.

Brightest Day was itself the tale of the most important resurrected and them completing the mission set by the Entity. The Brightest Day event was more of a banner that other books fell under, similar to Dark Reign in Marvel. While they did involve the other resurrected characters they were for the most part unneeded for the main books. Or at least that's how it seemed for me.

It was a hook to make us buy the comics...Tomasi & Johns just made "The Entity" a White Lantern, made it give out rings then at the end have it dissapear to make us think it had something to do with the whole GL universe!

You could tell from BD #0 it was going to focus on the resurrected characters and be an umbrella event for DC. It did have certain GL mythos elements to it, old and new. I just wish it all the GL's series didn't have Brightest Day plastered across the cover, it kind of ruins the art work.

Overall, it should have been called something else.

Swamp Thing: Rebirth (With Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Deadman thrown in there)

But yeah I totally agree if it is going to be called Brightest Day it should deal more with the Green Lantern-verse.

Brightest Day was a waste of time.

And it only took me three issues to figure that out.

I mean I liked the stories of each of the individual characters but all being intwined for Swamp Thing disappointed me greatly.

The more time passes the more angry I find myself about Brightest Day. I think I actually walked away from Countdown with a much better feeling than I do from Brightest Day.

from what i heard from fans all over the net to me it sounds like this was dc's set up to reboot all charachters.

same could be said for blackest night but at least that was interesting.

im not saying its a bad idea but the question is is everyone gona get a new over haul or is it just specific key charachters?

id love for a new martian manhunter series because its time for him to be brought back in a way to gain a bigger fanbase.

i may turn some heads and have people say wtf but i tried reading some flash and green arrow and they just never interested me. now i dont know if thats because i love scifi but some form of change could be good. i admit im not experianced in the comics arena like you guys but dont you agree that its time for some new charachters to shine? i mean for god knows how many years its always been batman and superman and it took this long for green lantern to become a face of a new direction for dc wich i really do like alot.

I was disappointed, but not angry. However, if they really reboot the DCU in August (and it's not just a temporary Age of Apocalypse thing), then I might be angry, because its pointlessness would be even more insulting.
