Comixology starts running Volume 3
Hey all,

This was the run that got me into Green lantern full time (I think I jumped on at issue 23 or so It was right at the end of the Star Sapphire storyline)

Comixology has been doing bits and pieces of Volume 3 for a while now and nearly all of those were Post ET Last week they added issues 31 and 32 which were part of a cross-over with the 87-09 Flash run starring Wally West.
Today Comixology starts off two story-lines at once
First, The Road Back with issues 1 and 2
Then The Third Law with Issues 32 and 33

(Note that The Third Law takes place AFTER the Ganthet's Tale One-Shot)

I've loved reading these comics since my College years and i'm glad I'll be able to have them available digitally.

Yo! What's up with Arisia's Arms?!? do all Graxons(sp?) have stretchy upper arms like that?

Space Cop 11-07-2012 07:15 PM

How do those older comics look in digital?

LOL on Arisia's arms.

Mister Ed 11-07-2012 07:31 PM

They need to do "A Guy and His G'nort", if they haven't already!

Lantern2814.20850 11-08-2012 04:18 AM

The Comics look great comixology does Top quality scans. (actually the covers shown are directly from my DC comics iPad app. That's pretty much how every page looks They usually do two issues a week per Title so we should get a Guy and his G'Nort in about 4 weeks (give or take.)

Lantern2814.20850 11-14-2012 02:19 PM

This week Comixology dispenses with the Third Law and instead focuses the attention on The Road Back with issues 3-6

On the Other Hand Comixology has also gone back to the previous run (1976-1986) and this time they've started at Green Lantern 172
(they also released 173 but apparently there's some glitch present as the cover shown is for the aforementioned issue 6 of the 1990-2004 run...........Edit: i wrote to them via facebook regarding the glitches and they've been corrected.)

Lantern2814.20850 11-21-2012 03:36 PM

Hey all, This week Comixology concludes the first storyline in Green Lantern (1990-2004)
THE ROAD BACK with issues 7-8

Then they jump ahead to the post ET issues with #94 which is the beginning of a two part crossover with Superboy (1994-2002)

Lantern2814.20850 11-28-2012 02:49 PM

Well, as you can tell by my Avatar and sig I'm celebrating Comixology's latest offerings
The First two parts of a four part story in which Guy Gardner is made the 'Official" Lead GL of Space Sector 2814.......and then the other shoe drops, when guy is surprised to find he has company in the form of a canine GL named G'Nort who claims he was given freedom to patrol whatever sector's he sees fit. when Guy asks the Guardians what the score is, they tell him they never heard of the shaggy GL, and assign Guy to investigate the source of G'Nort's membership claims.
Green Lantern issues 9-10 A Guy and his G'Nort (the Green Lantern Corps will never be the same)

Mister Ed 11-28-2012 02:52 PM

Awesome! Now I feel the urge to dig these out and read them again.

Space Cop 11-29-2012 12:37 PM

A Guy and His G'nort hold a special place in my heart. I had already been a GL fan for some years, but I only just got started actually collecting. I remember taking this particular arc to the hospital to re-read when I had my first (of many) surgeries.

Lantern2814.20850 12-05-2012 12:54 PM

This week we only get one issue of each run from Comixology's back issue offerings of
Of course, we get a major cliffhanger at the end of this issue which makes it even more agonizing....(if they decide to hold off 'til January to release the next issue it'd REALLY be like old times....hmmm better not give 'em any ideas lol)

Lantern2814.20850 12-12-2012 04:11 PM

Sadly, No new issue this week

Cov w/ Comixology via Facebook

Michael Kramer: No Green Lanterns this week?!?
according to the Blog Monday we should have gotten
Green Lantern (1990-2004) #12 and
Green Lantern (1976-1986) #179

but i'm not seeing them on the app nor the main site

ComiXology Sorry about that Michael, these books are not available this week! We'll let you know if that changes.

Michael Kramer that's ok (fortunately I HAVE the original hardcopies but they bothe left cliffhangers last week so i'm suddenly getting the feeling I used tio get when i was buying them the first time around....just don't make us wait a whole month ok? lol.

ComiXology We know the feeling well, we'll keep our eyes peeled for word from DC

Lantern2814.20850 12-19-2012 04:19 PM

Well, we had a week off but today we get two issues of
to make up for it.... (did I mention how much i LOVE doing that? :D )
So this week ends "A Guy and his G'Nort" with Guy burning out the anti-oan power holding him and G'Nort. and taking down the Qwardians and their phony Green Lanterns.
We then skip Green Lantern 13 and jump into the next major story arc in volume 3 called Mosaic...(this, in turn would lead to an ongoing title in it's own right starring John Stewart
(I honestly hope that after this storyline ends, they go ahead and start running Mosaic alongside Volume 3)

Lantern2814.20850 01-02-2013 04:17 PM

Well, this is really starting to look like John Stewart Appreciation Month! Over in Volume 2 John has just been selected to replace Hal Jordan and here in volume 3 of
John continues his struggle to hold the Mosaic together before it erupts into a full scale interplanetary...World War!

The Beige Lantern 01-03-2013 09:01 AM

If I search for 'Mosaic' I only get one issue... does the Mosaic storyline continue in the main run of volume 3? I thought it was a separate series to GL?

Space Cop 01-03-2013 12:28 PM

It was both. It started as the after effects to Old Timer's rebellion (that's in the issues from vol. 3 you see below). Then it spun off.

Lantern2814.20850 01-08-2013 05:48 AM

Yes, this is the issue I believe you're referring to (along with the subscription advertisment for the series

As i said a few weeks ago I'm hoping that Comixology will continue this as well as Green Lantern Vol 3 (This issue was released around the same time as Green Lantern 25 (The Loser Leaves the Corps Fight between Guy and Hal)

The best part of this Title's release was that DC released a wearable Green Lantern Power Ring with it

(I still have several of them myself)

I still have mine (though it's chipped in one corner :(). How'd you get that many. Subscribe 10 times?

Lantern2814.20850 01-08-2013 03:16 PM

Nah, when the comic came out the comic shops had bucket's full of 'em! You could take as many as you wanted (they didn't charge $1.00 a ring like they do now!)

Lantern2814.20850 01-09-2013 03:05 PM

So this week we wrap up a storyline and get our first one-shot in
First John learns the big secret behind the Mosaic. Why aren't the Guardians working to send the various cities back and what's going to happen with them if they remain?
Then in 19 Guy Gardner gets the spotlight back. The JLI is being closed up by the UN and Guy is left feeling out of sorts. Fortunately Guy runs into just the man who can help him deal with his anger......Goldface! (largely by being a handy target for Guy's rage! good thing the Red lantern's didn't exist yet! Guy would've joined a whole lot sooner)

Lantern2814.20850 01-16-2013 01:50 PM

Another Done in One issue of
This is a Big One.
John Guy and Hal all see visions of Alan and investigate meeting Alan's wife Molly.
Molly is worried because when Alan left he left behind his battery. Suddenly, the Image of Alan that had appeared to the three GLs reappears and reveals that after years of contact, a portion of his soul became imprinted on it. When Guy questions the battery as to why Alan had such a different operation and weakness from the other GL's in the universe, the Battery takes them back to ancient China and shows them the history of Yalan Gur, a previous Green Lantern who wielded a power ring that had not yet been subjected to the yellow impurity.
This issue was drawn by the three dominant GL artists of the time as well as Martin Nodell who drew the Time travel segment Gil Kane who drew Hal's adventures in the silver age provided the cover.

Lantern2814.20850 01-23-2013 03:03 PM

This week, Hal recruits a warrior into the
And GAWD! I forgot how freakin' UGLY Boodika was!
(to tell the truth, I don't recall her being drawn as good looking until long after E.T.)

My only complaint with this issue is one I've had with many of the Broderick penciled GLs
for some reason they make some pretty far out coloring mistakes. During The Road Back we get a bunch of Green Skinned Red-suited Lanterns and here the uniforms are kept okay but everyone turns blue. Oddly this only happened when Broderick would pencil the book.

We only got one each in the Green Lantern section this week (possibly because Comixology resumed running the Mike Grell Run of Green Arrow (1988-1998)

Lantern2814.20850 02-01-2013 04:34 PM

Hal has to contend with enemies old and ne this week in
Hal finds himself (in full Green Lantern Uniform) interviewing as if for a job. what he finds out however is that he's a captive being studied before he's sold off as a slave.
Of course since much of the story makes mention of Hal's relationship with Carol Ferris,(See the Comixology runs Volume 2 thread for THAT mess!)
This leads right into Hal confronting Carol in her least flattering run as Star Sapphire

btw:the pages on 22 are a little scrambled up at the moment (a common enough occurance with Comixology's releases. they usually fix em up on a day or two)

Lantern2814.20850 02-06-2013 03:47 PM

Hal has to find a way to save Carol and help John destroy Star Sapphire in this week's

I was gonna say that this week's release would truly be the end of Star Sapphire as the post-Rebirth SS doesn't have the dominate or kill personality anymore but I forgot about the three issue bit right before the SCW. still, we won't be seeing this gawd-awful uniform on any Star Sapphire's anymore and that's more than acceptable.

Beyond all that, Hal recruits three new Members to the Corps.

Not mine. I had them pull Mosaic for me, and yet I never even SAW one of those rings. They didn't have any in the shop, and they didn't have one for those that pulled the title. I really wanted one, too. :(

Lantern2814.20850 02-13-2013 03:16 PM

This Week! in
Here we see the End of Guy's Primary Full-Time run as a member of the Green Lantern Corps (On the upside, said run is just starting up in the Volume 2 Thread)
After the smoke Clears we find Hal in a suburb of Coast City, starting to put his Earth life back together! Right in time for an attack from Evil Star!

All times are GMT. The time now is 08:57 AM.
