Well we don't know when the offer was made, could've been before the most recent shake up.

‘Birds of Prey’ Adds Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Black Canary and Huntress

"Chosen" 09-26-2018 11:38 PM

I'd rather Jurnee play Huntress

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 09-27-2018 12:04 AM

Winstead is way too good for this.

DC has renewed its original show Titans for a second season

The show premiered at New York Comic Con, and it launches on DC Universe on October 12th

Titans reviews are popping up:

I was on the fence about subscribing to the service before Young Justice was available since Titans still doesn't look that appealing to me but they gave everyone who attended today's NYCC panel a free year of the service so I guess I'll give it a shot.

Hypo 10-05-2018 11:30 PM

I was at the Geoff Johns spotlight panel today, he wouldn't go into details but he said we'd be seeing JSA characters in the Stargirl tv show.

Darth_Primus 10-08-2018 06:28 PM

I won't sign up for the DC streaming service until about this time next year, because I'm going to wait for more content is loaded onto the service.

The Wrap: James Gunn in Talks to Write ‘Suicide Squad 2’ for DC; May Also Direct

Holy Poach, Batman: James Gunn, director of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, is in talks to write “Suicide Squad 2” for DC with an eye toward direct the next installment, three insiders exclusively told TheWrap.

Gunn will have a completely new take on the property, in which DC supervillains are recruited by the government to carry out secret missions too dirty for the likes of Superman and Batman.

The first “Suicide Squad,” which starred Will Smith and Margot Robbie, earned nearly $750 million worldwide on a $175 million budget before promotion and advertising. The film also launched Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Jared Leto’s take on The Joker.

Robbie will topline “Birds of Prey,” about the most dangerous women in Gotham City.

Gunn was fired from Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise after online critics discovered years-old tweets in which he joked about rape and pedophilia. Gunn apologized and said he had grown as a person in the years since the jokes. Despite calls from many fans to reinstate him, Disney has made clear that he will not be back to direct the third “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Gunn is repped by UTA and Safran company.

Chuck Roven is producing the “Suicide Squad” sequel.

David Ayer, who directed the first movie, was never expected to return to the franchise following a harrowing battle with the studio during the edit process.

TheWrap wrote previously about the fallout between Ayer and top WB executives, who effectively locked the director out of his own editing room to deliver a lighter version of a superhero movie, while Ayer was more focused on the darkness of the bad guys.

Gavin O’Connor wrote the previous draft of the script.

On a positive note, one of the things the Suicide Squad concept has going for it is they don't need much of a reboot to improve on a bad installment. They are a group of villains the governent puts together for covert missions. Just move forward and tell another adventure. If any of the cast doesn't come back you can avoid recasting by simply replacing those characters with new villains.

If Gunn does come onboard he can effectively act like he has a clean slate without the hassle of really wiping it clean. Make a sequel that doesn't suck in place of a reboot that isn't really needed.

You're right. The only character that should be kept is Waller, and she wasn't the problem of Squad 1.

If you think they're not including DC's most marketable female character, you're deluding yourselves.
And I'm not sure I was 100% onboard with Waller in that movie. Killing the feds in the office simply because they didn't have high enough clearance isn't just cold or bureaucratic pragmatism. It was cartoonish villainy.

Hypo 10-11-2018 12:17 AM

I cannot fathom them re-casting/excluding Margot Robbie. I think her and Will Smith are pretty much guaranteed to return, the others though that could be up in the air.

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 10-11-2018 09:04 PM

If I were Gunn I would keep Robbie as HQ. He can rebuild the team from there. The more I think about it, the more I dont want the team to exclude Deadshot, Rick Flag and Boomerang. And I would rather those actors not reprise those roles. So right there my little idea goes out the window for me. Sigh...

I downloaded it, see what the hype is about.

Michael Heide 10-16-2018 08:27 AM

I'll wait until it's on European Netflix. Which shouldn't take long.

Hypo 10-16-2018 11:05 PM

Nope, we've been using DC Universe solely to re-watch Young Justice.

All times are GMT. The time now is 04:40 PM.
