Weird. Even this morning on the iPad it still says “Post removed by moderators.” However, I think I found it through Google.

"Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/Art."
You probably still have the original page in your cache.

Except I didn't look at it until after I read that Space Cop couldn't see it, so I can't see how it would be in my cache...

Interestingly, the page doesn't load at all on my desktop. When I successfully linked to it, it was with my iPhone.

EDIT: Now it loads on my desktop, too. It has the message you mentioned, but the picture appears right below it for me (and it can't have been in my cache, because, once again, this is the first time I've linked to it on this machine.)

Michael Heide 06-18-2020 09:54 PM

Okay, that's super weird. But a friend of mine sent it to me via messenger. So I won't be able to unsee it.

Which means that I just cannot take risks on new titles and one-shots as much as I used to. And now not only do I not get to sell the final issues of Supergirl and the Terrifics, books that several of my customers had on their pull lists, they now add new titles that I don't get to sell at all?
At a time where a massive worldwide pandemic has already cut into most of my reserves?

In terms of overseas shipping DC certainly shit the bed on that but per Bleeding Cool it wasn't malicious, they apparently didn't realize the cost savings on shipping Diamond UK provided. So not a vendetta, they're just bad at their jobs. Which isn't really a surprise.

As for the issues that switched to digital only, Marvel is doing the same thing for certain books so I don't see it as vendetta, it's just more evidence of the pandemic fucking stuff up.

DC completists, for once? Fans of the cover artists? I mean, these books have artwork by Jim Lee and Amanda Conner. I could have sold a copy or two of these titles. Maybe more.
Obviously only you know your customers but I have a hard time seeing there being more than a few hundred people in the entire world that are in the market for what is an obvious marketing tactic for HBO Max from the creative teams of Cohen/Eaton, Cohen/Prasetya and Cohen/Braga.

Same.

DC Comics 4-packs to replace 100-page Walmart giants
Quote:

DC Comics is swapping out its 100-page Walmart giants for shrink-wrapped packages of four recent individual comics, the publisher announced Thursday in a press release.

In fact, that product has already started shipping to stores, and it will be in roughly 2,900 Walmarts by July 21. Each four-pack will retail at a price point of $8.98. The new thing about these is that they will also contain backing boards featuring a different DC superhero as illustrated by Ivan Reis. When put together, the boards will form the Justice League.

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 06-18-2020 11:39 PM

I guess that means Swamp Thing Giant wont be a thing I have to chase down every month for anymore. #6 will be the final issue, and even that may never see print and be the one issue that was digital only.

Space Cop 06-19-2020 03:05 AM

^When I first read the headline I was hoping it meant reprints going to local comic shops. Oh well.

Collections for 2021 have started popping up on the Penguin Random House website, here are some that caught my eye:

A Lee Bermejo collection? Damn, I might have to get that.

Remember when Team Geoff and Team Dan were vying for control of DC?

    • Collects Green Lantern #129-136 in addition to the contents of the original trade

This? They consider "Circle of Fire" to be Kyle Rayner's greatest moment? Not the GL/Silver Surfer crossover? What about the time Kyle tried to restart the Corps by himself? Or the time Kyle met the LSH in the 30th Century?

"Circle of Fire" was passable, almost good, when the 6 extra GLs were time-lost or alternate timeline GLs. Not as part of Kyle's imagination (which then took on a life of it's own, which happened again with his White Ring/Life Equation ending to GodsWar).

Michael Heide 07-21-2020 05:39 PM

Circle of Fire gets reprinted because Saga is still hot despite its hiatus, and Brian K Vaughan didn't write many collectable story arcs for DC, mostly just random issues here and there. And now they're cramming in more issues to inflate the price tag of the collection.

They both lost, but I haven't seen any evidence that we've won.

Jae Lee did a cover for Ethan Van Sciver/Comicsgate, prompting Tom King to call him a racist on Twitter. Lee has almost no online presence and spends a lot of time in South Korea. King eventually speaks privately to Lee and clears things up between them.

King is former CIA, which I didn't know before. Dude had a government job and didn't think to contact his editor to try and reach Lee over potential involvement with a hate group? He raises a fuss about Lee doing art for EVS but doesn't bitch about Chuck Dixon being included in an 80th Anniversary special when Dixon had no qualms with a publisher he worked with being an avowed white supremacist? Or Scott Lobdell being a sexual predator who's protected by Bob Harras?

Tom King may indeed have a landmark run on Batman of late, but he's an idiot from what I'm seeing.

Trey Strain 07-25-2020 04:26 PM

His "landmark run" featured the catastrophe of the bullshit wedding of Bruce and Selina, which caused the sales of Batman to collapse.

Fuck King. He should never work in comics again because of that.

King is trying to "cancel" Ethan, when he's the one who needs to be "canceled."

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 07-25-2020 05:43 PM

Fuck King is right. He spends his time bullying other smaller less successful artists into taking or not taking work that HE deems right. Put aside the fact that he is completely wrong about EVS and comics gate, who are good guys just interested in making good comics without being forced to insert politics in their funny books. The truth is King and asshole creators like him are hipoctrytical gatekeepers in a dying industry. Lee should have told him to go pound sand and take whatever booking he wants.

Trey Strain 07-26-2020 02:45 PM

King should be too embarrassed to show his FACE on social media, let alone to show his ASS that way.

Bullshit.

Agent Purple 07-26-2020 10:50 PM

Didn't EVS tell a fan to kill himself and thus earn a firing from DC and his name no longer being associated with Green Lantern despite his and Johns's heavy contributions to the franchise?

Because that doesn't sound like a "good guy" thing to do.

I dunno, but it's always better to tell people to go fuck themselves.

Agent Purple 07-30-2020 11:25 PM

Tess Fowler is on Twitter showing that EVS and his Comicsgate cronies (including Art Thibert) have mocked her for having cancer as an "act of God she deserves."

Good guys who just want to make good comics? Or absolute pieces of shit that too many people make excuses for?

Obviously the latter.
