So it was going to be 12 and then it was going to be 8 and now back to 12? Yeah, you can kind of figure out what the plan was there.

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 03-03-2020 10:41 PM

Seems suspicious that they cut them off at 8, and now it's just like, "ahh, forget those plans for the end of the year, go back to do what you were doing".

The Podcast of Oa had Liam Sharp on as a guest.

If Didio thought it would've been a good idea to take somebody like Morrison off a title like Green Lantern in favor of some new stuff that was already a big risk in itself then his firing makes sense. Marvel's line wide relaunches and initiatives every two years was getting ridiculous, and I'm glad DC is sticking with a universe and rolling with it for awhile.

This also probably mended potential bridges collapsing with DC's other big gun creators like King, Snyder, etc.

Wasn't DiDio the one to convince Morrison to give Hal a try?

As many good decisions as some bosses make, there are some that make just as many mistakes. Eventually it catches up to them.

According to the DC Fandom Wiki, "Hyperman" and "Hyperwoman" are from the January, 1968 edition of Superboy. There, Superboy Prime had to endure a bait-and-switch from the "Hyperfamily", a husband-wife-son team who had a similar origin story to Pre-Crisis Superboy/Superman of Krypton. Their last names were "Quentin", and the Hyperfamily members found their adopted planet of Trombus with a red sun giving them "Kryptonian-like powers".

This looks like an update to the 1968 storyline. DC writers have done this before (like the entire Blackest Night), so here's hoping the issue isn't too bad.

Morrison and Sharp were on the Word Balloon podcast.

They seem to have a plan to get the title back on track. Obviously the GL team has been using the time productively.

Hypo 05-16-2020 05:01 PM

I mean they have a plan but I'm not sure it's great. I'm a die-hard Morrison evangelist and even I'd admit the series has been kind of subpar.

Best thing I can say about it is that it feels like an absolute palate cleanser, whoever takes over the book next can go in whatever direction they want without being weighed down by the baggage from the Johns era.

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 05-17-2020 12:06 AM

That's an excellent point. Morrison's take gets us one more run removed from John's take on the series, which Venditti's run simply continued from. The next guy hopefully will continue Morrison's way of ignoring all of that baggage. I probably enjoy the current version more than you, and if the next one goes back to any kind of color brigade or end of the world every month nonsense I will just walk away forever and turn in my fan badge.

Big Daddy Dave Skywalker 05-17-2020 12:08 AM

Also, we can be sure of a new shiny #1 after #12 of Morrison's run hits shelves. A brave new world.

I just started Season Two. Finished the first issue. I haven't had any big problems with the series but then again, I'm not waiting a month between issues either so things probably flow a lot better for me. Where does the trouble start?

I'd say that Season Two issues #2 and #3 are what really soured me on the book. Before then I just thought it was kind of average.

jhpace1 06-12-2020 05:21 PM

The first picture above reminded me of Hal Jordan, Spectre.

Hypo 06-12-2020 08:44 PM

Fairly certain that has to be on purpose so we'll probably get some Spectre references in that issue at least.
