The Blood Splattered Bride (1972)
http://cinemaxunga.net/plogger/plog-...idethe-dvd.jpg
"Are you trying to say my wife is a lesbian?
-No, but she is being dominated by a lesbian."

Mostly stupid Spanish horror exploitation with loose connections to Carmilla. You're not supposed to know whether the evil influence is ghost, vampire, or crazy human, so it's a sort-of mystery (until the nudity it feels like a slow Hammer film, but dubbed).

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
http://movieboozer.com/wp-content/up...tbobposter.jpg
"In a world gone mad, we will not spank the monkey, but the monkey will spank us."

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965)
https://d2nh4f9cbhlobh.cloudfront.ne..._kill_kill.jpg
"I've seen better fights on the Late Show."

Yep, that is the actual title of this drive-in "classic" that features a trio of hot-rodding bad girls that kill a drag racer, steal his girl, and head to the desert only to take refuge with a family that may be more twisted than they are.

Draft Day - Such a good movie, I don't think most of the trades would happen in real life though.

[Couldn't see the lunar eclipse due to cloud cover here, but followed my tradition of trying to watch a werewolf movie on full moon nights:]

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009)
http://drunkenblackguy.com/wp-conten...r-662x1024.jpg
"You're a credit to your race."

Dirty O'Neil (1974)
http://www.moviegoods.com/Assets/pro...378.1020.A.jpg
"Yep; a cop is usually overworked, underpaid, and misunderstood, but he ain't never horny."

So this was rather unusual in that it didn't seem to know what kind of movie it was. For 3/4 of the flick it's a raunchy comedy about a smalltown cop is quite the player. But when it gets to a trio of thieving, raping, murderous bikers, it's decidedly darker.

BTW: the subtitle probably gives away the tone of the movie, but I didn't see that at the time. Netflix decribes just the revenge angle.

Man of Steel

Second time I watched this movie in as many days as it is now airing on HBO. There's still a lot of things that bother me about this film (Superman snapping Zod's neck is not one of them), but the battle between Superman and Faora is awesome.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier- I thoroughly enjoyed this. I wonder if DC is taking notes... yeah, probably not.

This is basically how I feel about the movie. It's like I want Zack Snyder to direct only the action scenes and let someone else take over whenever it's time for emotion to be shown or any chemistry needs to be demonstrated between actors/actresses.

Awesome movie.

Garbo: The Spy (2009)

A documentary about an interesting subject (probably the most successful double agent of WWII) told in a weird and boring way.

Gravity- This was compelling, but not the absolute blockbuster I was expecting. It was good, but not something that I would watch twice. In addition, after the hallucination scene, it kind of dragged.

I rather enjoyed this movie and it was rather funny. Zac Efron and Dave Franco are just all sorts of hot in this movie. I wouldn't say it's a must see in the theaters but defintely worth a rent.

I really enjoyed this, but for myself I can't imagine wanting to rewatch it other than on the big screen in 3D. That's where it really shines, IMHO, and I just don't think it would be as strong a film viewed in 2D on my television. In my estimation that makes it a weaker film than one that is not so format dependent, but that didn't stop me from being impressed when I DID see it in that format. :D

A bit heavy-handed with its symbolism and parallels, but when the subject matter is this severe it really doesn't weigh on me all that much. An interesting angle on a real-life event that reminds me just how lucky I am to be born a white American.

Highly recommend, if you don't mind English subtitles.

The Stepford Wives (1975)
http://academic.depauw.edu/aevans_we...ord%201975.jpg
"Why? Because we can."

So I finally saw this. I knew the set-up but not how it worked out.
It really disturbed me and now I'm playing in my head to what degree is the concept (I don't mean the fantasy angle so much as the feminist conceit) contrived or would a whole town of men really sign off on getting a Stepford wife. Sadly, I can think of guys that probably would. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I wouldn't but it still bothered me.

I want this to be incredibly funny. I'm so excited for it.

Just saw DRAFT DAY. Sooo much better than expected. Had no idea it was going to feature fictional players. I was dreading watching this. I couldn't imagine what would possess them to make a movie about the Cleveland Browns drafting abilities. lol OF COURSE it had to be fictional.

I loved it, but yeah the Browns wouldn't be able to pull off what Costner did.

They just annoucned a sequel to that is on the way.

Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WUAmb41PKm...tivity%2B3.jpg
"She got blown in the face!"

So, I had thought #1 was alright. I didn't like #2, but thought I'd try #3. Sure enough, it's slow and boring (plus the mother is just annoying although the guy is too) just like the 2nd. Guess I'll give up on the series.

Lantern A-train 04-18-2014 02:09 PM

Nooo don't just yet. Watch The Marked Ones. Me and my roommmate thought it was great and it ties into the others rather nicely.

I know, that's why I watched it. :D

I don't think it's gonna happen though since Matilda said she won't be in it

Lantern A-train 04-18-2014 04:30 PM

They could do it without her. They haven't even asked her yet. She also swore off acting ages ago. I think it's a tad fucked up that she is badmouthing the film already. She acts like they already reached out to her and she said fuck that. All I keep thinking is yeah they are making a sequel but what makes you think they even wanted you in it in the first place.

Booster Beetle 04-18-2014 04:34 PM

I think the other daughter quit acting a while back too

All I keep thinking is, "Who the heck thought this was a movie that needed a sequel at all, much less this many years later?"
