    Yo.

Mav's thinking of the stuff that happened in 52, and KL's thinking of Rann-Thanagar Holy War, which was the last of Starlins DC cosmic stories......

Nope, I was right... Strange Adventures...

Starlin did this series as well but I'm not sure what order they're all in. I just remember being excited DC was finally doing something with other cosmic properties... then the New52 pretty much destroyed everything they had built back up. Even though Morrison is a genius, I didn't care for what he turned Capt. Comet into in Action Comics in the New52. And Tigorr showed up in Deathstroke I think and resembled some more alien looking human rather than a tiger.

Has there ever been a real tie in with Green Lantern from these comics? In Larfleeze they quickly mention L.E.G.I.O.N. The Rann Thanagar War is also talked about in Green Lantern books. But what about the rest, are they totally disconnected. For example they don't seem to refer at all to John Stewarts and the Darkstars, just to mention one thing. It would be very cool it they made some large epic where all these different comics could come in.

The only time John Stewart's time as a Darkstar was brought up was in the Kyle era of GL in vol. 3 of that series. IIRC when Kyle first meets John is around issue#71, the same issue Kyle and Donna Troy have their first real fight when Donna walks in on Kyle painting his hot model neighbor in the nude. John goes on to tell Kyle about his time as a Lantern and joining the Darkstars. After getting crippled in GL #75, John shows up sporadically and often brings up his past in super heroics as a sort of mentor to Kyle. Donna was also a Darkstar by the time she met Kyle and the two dated for the entire time she was still a member of their group. It should be noted they continued to have adventures in both the New Titans series as well as Kyle's GL run while she was a Darkstar.

The last Legion series had Vril Dox get a Sinestro Corps ring. Other than the series we've been discussing earlier I don't think the Darkstars were touched on.

damn, I had completely forgotten about that series, and as it turns out I think THIS is wat Mav was referring to (as opposed to yurself) rather than the other adventures Kory, A.M. & Adam had in 52:

Was there a reason behind Adam Strange going back to his classic look in that?

I found a Green Lantern list over the 2nd series where they suggest that I should read the Spectre. I have never read this series. I've read a bit about the series and it doesn't seem to be all that important. What are your thoughts?

I assume you mean the Spectre series where Hal was serving as the Spectre? It isn't a bit important to what's going on in GL now. It was pretty much brushed aside as irrelevant as far back as the end of Green Lantern Rebirth (and during Rebirth it was only relevant in that it explained why Hal was the Spectre in the first place).

I dont remember there being any reason given; could prolly/was likely just the artist's preferrence. was digging the newer suit myself.......

WOW. thats....pretty complete; Warrior was a good read back then, which really took off (IMNSHO) after he went Vuldaran.

I would also recommend getting GREEN LANTERN: LEGACY — THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF HAL JORDAN, since I didnt see it listed.....

Oh yeah, that's a fun book. Plus, in it Hal recounts his strategy for taking on the entire JLA, which I love.

I have that one as well. I didn't list it since it wasn't on the lists I found. As I gather it is out of continuity but it does give some insight and it because of that I think it earns its place.

However I don't have 1001 Emerald nights or the sleeper series, they seem weird to me.
                            Has anyone read them?

The only sleeper series I'm aware of is the novels. Is that what you are talking about? If so, they were never in continuity, and the only one that I thought was really decent was the Alan Scott one. Though I haven't read them in ages, so my memory could be faulty (they may ALL have been bad, and I just thought that one had the most promise...).

1001 Emerald Nights was Elseworlds if I recall correctly. I don't specifically remember whether it was good, though I have a vague recollection that the art might have been painted, which I often enjoy even if the story isn't so hot.

Pretty sure it was Elseworlds. I remember liking (not loving it). Ditto Dragon Lord.
