Default Women hiking alone

I couldn't find a thread where this seemed to belong.

This is just not something that women should do. Even if they don't encounter a bad guy out there, they could twist an ankle or fall down a bank.

I know that people are raised to be optimists and to believe that nothing bad will happen to them, but this happens too often.

I'm not sure hiking alone is the best idea regardless of gender. Also sounds less enjoyable to me (and I'm fairly introverted). I mean some wilderness is more wild than others, so the danger level varies, of course.

I was going to say, "This is why you bring a gun" but it kind of just reads like she succumbed to "the elements" (snow, namely, in this case).

There are a lot of things people do for fun that are far more dangerous than the average solo hike, and I always find myself scratching my head at those, too.

When I watch a video of some guy trying to summit Everest without oxygen, while his pregnant wife waits in base camp, I'm not inspired or impressed. I'm like, "What is wrong with you?"
