I've been saying for years that the government's bragging about "the low unemployment rate," "the strengthening and firming economy" and "the big wage increases that are coming along any minute now" was bullshit. And so it was.

Here's what's happening. When millions of people lose full-time jobs that have health care and other benefits, and have to replace them with part-time jobs that have no benefits, the government calls that a "recovery" and proclaims that things are just peachy again. But they're not!

The government claims that if you were making $65K with benefits, but now you're making $20K with no benefits, you're just as well off as you were before. Because, hey, you're employed.

There have ALWAYS been huge wildfires in California, dating to prehistoric times. This place was designed by nature to burn up every few years. The problem is that rich people who love the views and the exclusive locations are allowed to build homes in areas that are at high risk to burn, for the simple reason that they're rich.
