I officially got my first 3rd party transformer today. He's called Dai Stack, a diaclone homage to the original Ultra Magnus, and Jesus Christ, he's huge! Very happy with him.

Cool! I thought the Combiner Wars Megs would be a little bigger. I went to TRU and they had the Rainbow Armada Megs, but not the other one.

In doing a little research about Transformers toy origins for a review I am writing about Dai Stack, I came across two incredibly informative websites detailing all the toy lines that contributed to Hasbro's final output that we came to know in the 80's.

I remember reading some things that they were essentially two major toy lines which contributed to the Autobot vs Decepticon breakdown.

Yep, the two major lines were Diaclone and Microman, and then bits and pieces from other lesser known lines. Come to find out, I have some of these lesser-knows up in the attic that I never realized we're connected to the TF's.

Cool. I've toyed with idea () of looking for some of those before, but it's not a priority search for me.

Another interesting little factoid: did you know that Micronauts and TF's are distant cousins? They were both born from the Microman line, originally produced by Takara. mego toy company brought half the line over to the U.S. As Micronauts, and Hasbro brought the other half over as The Transformers.

Watching the episode "The Golden Lagoon." Even though the Autobots come through as always, it is probably the saddest and most depressing episode of the whole series because it's true. We tend to destroy everything we touch.

Brief synopsis:

I do like it for many reasons. It's a direct continuation of TF Prime, the Autobot team are an awesome group- the way Bumblebee has stepped up to be leader impresses me, plus the other members are so unique in their own right of this particular interpretation that I think this show will be just as memorable as Prime.

There are only two things that I'm not fond of- the animation style reeks of TF Animated, which I never cared for, and the choice of Decepticons characters lacks any familiarity and worthwhile characterization. They might as well be card board cut outs of leftover bad guys from any cartoon.

Nope, that is 100% Takara Tomy love. This particular version was dubbed "Asia exclusive with flaming sword and crown". The Autobot symbols are definitely there, but I think there is some kind of trick to making the one on his chest appear. I just haven't figured it out yet. Lol

Way cool! I wonder if Hasbro will ever get around to making the rest of the Dinobots in Masterpiece form. I'm still waiting for Jazz, Shockwave and Cliffjumper.

ANT-MAN Writers Join The TRANSFORMERS Spin-Offs; 'Cybertron' Movie Planned?

Last week we found out a few of the names involved in Paramount's plans for an expanded Transformers universe, headed by I Am Legend's Akiva Goldsman. Now it appears Ant-Man duo Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari have been tapped to join them. Read on for more!
Follow Minty: View CBM Profile Follow on Twitter

The Transformers writers room has just gotten a little bigger. Deadline are reporting that screenwriting duo Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari have joined up with Paramount Pictures to help bring to life an expanded universe for the multi-billion dollar franchise, including prequels, sequels and, of course, spin-off movies. While they aren't likely to be recognizable names yet, the pair did help re-write Ant-Man for Marvel, in the wake of Edgar Wright's departure.

Barrer & Ferrari join fellow MCU scribes Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man) in the Transformers writing room, alongside Jeff Pinker (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman and Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend). So far it is unclear which writer will be working on which film, but Deadline have claimed that Barrer & Ferrari expect to be working on a live-action feature. The site also believes that one of the titles in the works at Paramount is an origins story set on Cybertron, with the working title of Transformers One.

What do you think of this arrangement? Is this perhaps a sign that the new Ant-Man script will be something special - or could it be taken in the opposite manner? And how do you like the sound of a Transformers expanded universe? Leave your thoughts in the usual place!
