IMO, Green Lanterns will probably sell very well the first several issues because it's a new title that seemingly offers something new in the cast. But that will get old very fast when readers figure out it's just two jobber Green Lanterns fighting the rainbow brigade every month. It'll start somewhere around 36k a month and by #12 it will be at about 20k.

HJ&TGLC will fare better because it has the real heroes in it, and the real villains.

My impression of Venditti is that his ideas sound good on paper, but don't pay off. Like the broad strokes of Hal being the hidden martyr, going rogue, and learning an experimental ringlike weapon all have real potential, but he just doesn't sell it page by page. Mind you, I don't hate him like some do here, but I don't love him either and I would have been happy with a full shakeup.

Cop I couldn't agree more or a Galactus type being from a past universe (Relic) or a battle with the New Gods sans Darkseid, or a confrontation with
Par(Hal)lax all sound fantastic in theory but all left me feeling quite meh after the execution. Some blamed the art but there was something more than excellent art missing there. The fact that in theory these could have been great arcs made the blahness of the actual issues even more disheartening. When nothing happens in a seemingly stupid arc people aren't upset because they didn't expect much in the first place but when an arc has to potential to be great and it underwhelms then the disappointment is magnified. Maybe Venditti would be a better editor, big picture guy on GL telling a more competent writer, give me a New Gods war, or it's time to see Hal take on a version of himself as Parallax would kind of mileage can we get from that?

It's nice to see some renewed interest GL. Perhaps I'm being influenced too heavily by GL's lack of presence on TV or in film, but it feels like it's been forever since the Lantern mythos had positivity surrounding it.

Yeah, after this I'll just edit my copy of the list going forward to just the two new titles, and anything that happens to spin off from that. I'm sure the dropoff will be fast and severe (which is expected), but where it settles has me curious.

can't wait to see the HJ&tGLC numbers, it was in the top 10 last month(it's been awhile since we could say that). Unlike a lot of books who I expect the sales to drop quickly, I think the sales of both HJ and Detective comics to be steady because of the quality of the books so far. Hopefully they will even uptick once word of mouth gets out and is good.
