I stopped watching after viewing 3, which I only watched relatively recently. Being self-aware was nice for a change in the genre, but the series just never hooked me and I just can't really bother to care past the opening trilogy. Not a bad series, but I'm just not invested in it enough to want to see any more of them.

^Well, if you're not invested nothing is likely to change that, but I think #4 was better than #3 (maybe on par with #2) and I've heard others say the same.

Sounds about right to me, 3 sucked. Though 4 played it too safe. I kept waiting for one of the original characters to be revealed as (one of) the killer, like Dewey or something. Instead it's like, ALL of the killers are new characters and ALL of the victims are new characters, too... so who cares?

4 was not really a success, though, so I doubt they'd just repeat the Scream 4 formula. It'll probably barely have any old cast, if any.

My enthusiasm died with Randy, and I can't even stand Jaime Kennedy outside of Scream.

So, not a big fan of Son of the Mask?

I remember being mostly satisfied with Scream 2... when I was like 18. I remember being vastly disappointed in Scream 3. And Scream 4, just kind of shrugging when it was over. Like, "What was the point in that?" But I was looking forward to it.

I watched it start to finish, returned the DVD and tried to forget everything about it. There were a few solid ideas, and Traylor Howard is always adorable, but Kennedy was terrible, the special effects were insultingly bad, and it was very justified in destroying the director's career.
