I can hate how GL is now and think the GL movie was a dud, and that's okay. In the bigger picture, I've have times where I loved and hated what they were doing with the franchise over the last 30 years. This too, will pass. New creative teams are coming onboard in mere months, and in five years we could all be in love with it again, remembering these last few years as a distant, bad memory.

I'm pulling for GL to circle the wagons when this cycle of success is over, and the franchise to cut back to two books, GL and GLC. And have those two books be the very best they could ever be.

A couple of observations in this area:

Anything with a long-running continuity brings out strong love-hate feelings from fans. I've seen this with soap operas, the Simpsons, pro wrestling, the James bond movies, the various media in the Star Trek/Star Wars universes, and so on. While some fans are simply hard to please, others just experience periods that are lacking to them and yearn for changes in the product's direction.

Personally, the last thing in the GLC universe that I really disliked was Kyle hapharzardly giving out rings in the New Corps and creating a despot. That was 13 or 14 years ago. Since then, GL has been good-to-great, due in no small part to GJ's expansion of characters. GL/GLC is my failsafe when it comes to comics.

You didn't like that mini series? And THAT was the last thing you didn't like? The one with Scott Eaton on pencils? I'm not picking on you, that just strikes me as odd.

The art was fine, but Kyle impulsively giving a GL ring to someone he didn't really know made him seem stupid. He had his own ring for awhile at that point, so he should have been much more cautious about the ramifications of that kind of power in the wrong hands.

Yeah, that's the last thing that I really hated. I've been ambivalent to a few things here and there, but nothing that made me sorry I bought a certain run/TPB.

Isn't this the part where I have to give you a shrubbery so you don't kill me with "NIs"?

I love Green Lantern; I am a big fan of Geoff's run (Except for the last arc that has taken way too fucking long.) I have read lots of old stories too like Hard Traveling Heroes got me into it and Willworld is one of my favorite GL stories. Anyways I love The Corps.

I got so many found memories with GL. There was a comic shop next to a quizno's and I would buy a bunch of back issues walk over ther and just eat a ton of Jalopeno chips and read GL comics.

That sounds like the perfect way to spend a couple of hours, or an entire day.

Yep. Good times. My headphone and my GL was all I needed back in the day. There are songs that when I hear on I can remember what issue I was reading and what songs I was playing.

How did you avoid getting jalapeno dust all over the comics?

Same way you keep cheeto dust off your porn mags.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Space Cop's answer to that is, "By not having any?"

                              That silly prude.

At any rate, I'm really fussy about chip dust. I never eat that kind of stuff unless I can wash my hands right after and never while reading or touching anything (like a remote control or such).
