I figured that when the Young Justice characters/promo was shown, but I didn't think that they would make the move to put him in comics. I hope he's used well and not just a character that's underutilized so that DC can say that they have minority characters.

I haven't seen anything else about this guy, but I hate the idea juste because they killed Garth to have him there.

Let's see, Roy is still there & we have Mia as speedy, Dick is still there & we got Tim & Damian. West & Bart, Donna & Cassie.

Why the fuck did they have to kill TEMPEST, so we could get another aqualad, we still have aquagirl around though.

Sigh

my intial thought... Black Manta's son.

As long as Tempest returns, I'm all for it. I don't mind Aquaman having a Aquagirl, Aqualad, Mera, and Tempest. But don't forget to beef up his rogues gallery too, don't forget he has:

-Ocean Master
- The Fisherman
- King Shark
- Pirhanna Man
- The Eel
- Lava Lord
- The Thirst

I called this the minute I saw Tempest wasn't resurrected in the end of BN and we saw the promo for Young Justice. I hope the character works out, my first thoughts were of a son for Black Manta. And it would make sense if the Aqua-family of characters is going to get some attention. Manta has never had a secret ID and there are two different origins floating around out there [pun intended LOL].

I wish I had Geoff's job so I could create a new character that got to audiences in animation AND comics. I don't care for his hair though.... too close to Static's.

From GEOFF JOHNS

Is new Aqualad water elemental/avatar?

Nope, but when we meet Aqualad he actually fears water for a very specific reason!

Just like the old Aqualad was afraid of fish at the start!

Not exactly. His parents have taught him to fear the water.

Poor Garth. 8'((

Please give Aqualad a chance, honestly it's all about character/story and I think we've got a great one.

New Aqualad...eh. I miss Garth already. He was MIA/mishandled for years then him showing up in one panel of Final Crisis and then that issue of Titans gave me hope. Then BN came and killed him

Great article on all of Aquaman's costume changes and minor tidbits of his history for anyone new to the character.

Like you and everyone else suspected, Aqualad is in fact Manta's son - in the DCAU.

The Fisherman is alive. AQUAMAN: Sword of Atlantis #48-49.

Two part story by Busiek which retells the origin of the fisherman(if you don't want to read it, long story short the hood/helmet of the fisherman is a symbiotic creature and anytime the body dies it latches on a new host), one of the best arcs of that terrible oyl storyline. This was just before it switched writers and artist to Tad Williams & Shawn McManus(terrible art for a superhero book) in issue #50 only to be canceled at issue #57...

Arguing over Aquaman continuity is pointless. A fan asked Geoff Johns what was and wasn't still in continuity, and he gave a passive "Most of it is still there." response. You won't know what's still in continuity until its not. Also, he mentioned that there are NO plans for an ongoing Aquaman book.

Aquaman's continuity is fine. Most if not all his villains have poor silver age origin stories that I wouldn't mind retold/modernized, his hook/water hand arcs ended respectfully wiping out anything relevant from the previous run, and aside from his own title he's never been in any huge events.

Johns said he wouldn't mind focusing a big event on the aquaverse in one of his interviews on cbr. How much of that is true, I'll wait and see. I'm okay with his appearance in Brightest Day(and whatever series follows that we'll find him in) and that they're doing the character justice. If they rush an ongoing too soon, just so the creative team can switch before issue 4, I really hope they take their time.

That because first he's gotta do Aquaman Rebirth with EVS. They've been saying for MONTHS Aquaman is jumping back into the front lines of the DCU.... they're not just gonna use him in BD then be done with him. Especially since we all know GL will lead into a JLA movie.... and you can't have a founder of the League not present. That'd just be wrong!

Why would want the Aquaman Rebirth, his "rebirth" is happening in Brightest Day.

How many times has Aquaman been rebooted and then bombed? A solid gold no-prize to the first person who answers that question corerctly.

If they're going to do it again, they need to do it right this time.

TBH, after tempest's death in BN, I was kinda hoping BN would wipe out the Aqua-family.
