  • Is Hal Jordan still a womanizer?

Remember when Geoff started GL Vol. 4, and suddenly Hal Jordan was suddenly, retroactively this big time womanizer (whereas in the past, he'd only ever been in long, committed relationships with generally long courtships)?

    Is that still a thing?

Hal's barely been to Earth at all in the last 10 years, not really any chance for him to chase any skirts.

      Long, committed relationships???

Dorine Clay? Arisia? Eve Doremus? Joan what's-her-name in Idaho? Delia Pharon? These were long-term committed? Hal was a ladies' man from panel one. Go back to Showcase 22 and he's chasing Carol around the filing cabinet. Showcase 23, he's escorting sexy actresses to the theatre, using his ring to do it! It's part of Hal's charm. Naturally, when the movie "The Right Stuff" came out, there was some retro to match the astronauts' nasty-boy image. Don't blame Geoff for this one. He was picking up on an old theme.

I don't know. At the least, I'd say Johns over-emphasized Hal as player. He went through a number of girlfriends over the years, but Johns (in issue 1) portrayed him as the kind of guy who hooks up for one night and can't remember her name. I'd say in the first 25 years of his comic life you could probably count on your fingers the number of women Hal was shown to have romanced. Even in the relationships you mention I'd say Hal was portrayed as being pretty devoted and romantic with them during their time.

Hal just works as a bit of a skirt chaser. I always thought his and Jim Kirk's characters were similar in many regards, ladies being one of them.

Now they just don't have the page space for Hal's character to have that luxury. He has to share a title with three other well loved human characters, and a plethora of alien ones too.

Speaking of which, how often do ANY GL (other than the crazy b*tch and the other one) get to interact with a character that DOESN'T posess a power ring? Female or male?

He's not a womanizer, but he's an idiot who puts himself over his relationship.

I have no idea why DC did that to him. GOD how many times has the company screwed up this franchise? And always with what are called "unforced errors" in tennis.

Bettdr than how DC treated Green Arrow's womanizing retcon. They made him so unlikable, with all these kids he had that he didn't raise. Hal's womanizing was at least fun. Ollie was just a piece of garbage for like 10 years.

I can't imagine Hal is much of anything these days. The dude spends all his time in space anyway, unless he's getting involved with some alien chicks that we don't know of. Oh Hal!

Yeah Oliver Queen's womanizer was just an attempt to relate / destroy his character. It was despicable.

Ive never read that storyline with Hal Jordan and Powergirl but I do remember someone telling me about it. Involving some memory erasing and PG eventually punching Hal in the face?

Wasnt Powergirl the man-eater in this case? lol

And that reminds me of PG and Pel Tavin (one of the subconscious Kyle Rayner persona) AKA Emerald Knight also had a thing.

Hal was with way more women before GJ came on board. There was the hussy his landlord mentioned in the original Rebirth, Cowgirl, and Carol post the beginning of Vol. 4. That's three as opposed to the numerous examples others have listed from before GJ's time.

It's fine to dislike his work, but he's not to blame for EVERYTHING. Had Hal nailed Powergirl, Wonder Woman's mom, Black Canary, and got Fire and Ice in a three way during Vol. 4 and Vol. 5 you might've had an argument. Nobody is really a stud in DC right now and jumping into everyone's bed.

Thought that was later, more like about Issue #10, the "One Year Later" arc, as a lead-in to Hal's PTSD from having been a POW. In Issue #1 it's all about Cowgirl. "Yellow... My only weakness..."

And don't forget Kari Limbo. Oh, how I would like to forget Kari Limbo.

Rose Hardin. Stewart stole her fair and square.

                        Let's see, who else.

Look for it in Justice League Europe. It was during a time he had Power Girl, Arisia, Olivia Reynolds, Carol, and a few others all floating through his life at the same time. Adam Strange's daughter, too, if he could have arranged it. I think it may have been Aquaman who punched Hal in the face. And Eclipso. Definitely Eclipso. He was jealous.

You can credit Ron Marz for some of the cast, and for some believe it or not due to the labors of Mark Waid and Tom Peyer in the retrospective "Flash and Green Lantern - The Brave And The Bold" (1999).

Funny you brought that line up, I was just thinking about it yesterday. That was SUCH a great line. They did it so well I felt like I could see it play out on screen in a movie. Too bad it led to nothing, because Cowgirl had a lot of potential as a love interest for Hal.
