Default DC is aping Marvel's quips-laden movies

Has Marvel gone too far in filling its movies with quips by the protagonists? Has this passed the point of diminishing returns?

Quips undermine the seriousness of what you're seeing. They makes you unconcerned about the driving conflict and the implications of its outcome.

Humor in a movie doesn't need to be derived from quips. There are many other ways to be funny. The problem with them is that if your characters aren't concerned about what's happening, then your viewers damned sure won't be concerned either.

Judging from the previews for Wonder Woman, DC is on board and gung ho with this approach.

I could also do without seeing everyone who is having a fight jump way up high and cut flips before they land on their feet. That's also been done too much. Sorta the way guys like Tom Cruise outrunning slow-motion explosions got worn out.

since its pandering to the lowest age group likely to attend the film, the teens, jumps of that type will remain becuz "Flips Look KEWL!!", and since we *are* dealing with a visual medium..... /shrug

as for quips, Im not too opposed as long as there isn't an over-abundance of them used in any given set piece of dialogue. :/

The quips worked in the Iron Man movies, even though in the comics Iron Man was a serious character and Spider-Man was the one who was a wisecracker. But then Marvel just kept going with the quips in their movies until they got out of control.
