Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger Part IV (2000)
![]() "I'm not gonna die. Not here in Jersey!" Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) ![]() "Even without a rogue AI taking over, I calculate a 74 percent chance that human civilization will collapse into barbarism. And in that eventuality, these weapons will be vital to protect my family. Also, this is Texas." Watched this with my folks (who got it for me for Christmas). We all pretty much agreed that the premise/retcon was annoying, but there were good bits (included old, jaded Sarah).

So I made note that the last film we see Mike and the Bots watch is The Crawling Eye, and I looked it up: it really is an old horror flick, and the crew did watch it (though as of this typing I don't know if they watched it after the series ended or if they just did a throwback, probably the latter). I'll have to check it out now.

[Rifftrax:] Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011/2016)
![]() "That’s the quidditch field burning which officially makes this the best quidditch scene in all eight movies." Freeway (1996) ![]() "You see what happens when ya got bad manners?" Re-watched this for its 25th anniversary. Very fun and clever modernizing of Little Red Riding Hood, where she's the daughter of a hooker; the wolf is a serial killer (Kiefer Sutherland); and the woods is the I-5 in California. Not a family film, but I recommend it.

Neowolf (2007)
![]() "Don't believe everything you read on the inter-f**king-net." Tubied this for my full-moon picture. Better than I expected (about a werewolf rock band trying to convert a new guitar player whose girlfriend is suspicious), but not good per se. Apocalypse Soon: The Making of Citizen Toxie (2002) ![]() "How does this compare to other sets you've been on? -No comment."

MST3K: The Crawling Eye (1958)
"She could eat corn on the cob through a picket fence!" This is an old one, from the dawn of the series' second season (I am not a fan of Larry, he's no Frank). My dad was reluctant to check this out but he laughed at some of the jokes, especially the quoted one. When I looked the trailer up last week I saw one person comment how the film has decent atmosphere and could use a remake from someone like John Carpenter. I somewhat agree, a remake as a TV/streaming film rather than a big box office release could work well for this film especially with today's tech, and the film does indeed have fairly good atmosphere.

The One-Hundred-Foot Journey (2014)
![]() "You're a chef. I do not pay you to burn things. Take your knives and go." An Indian family looks to start a restaurant in a small French town with a Michelin-star restaurant and its tough owner (Mirren) already in it. Very good. The Foreigner (2017) ![]() "IRA politics and terrorism are different ends of the same snake. Whichever end you grab, you still grab a snake. -It makes a great deal of difference which end you grab, because one end will bite!" Liked this one. Thought it was going to be a straight-up revenge movie, but that's only half the story. There's a lot of crime thriller/political intrigue in it. Chan plays a restaurant owner whose daughter is killed in a London bombing from an IRA splinter group. In seeking revenge, he targets on ex-IRA, current Northern Ireland minister played by Pierce Brosnan to get the info.

![]() "The traditional stop-on-the-way-home-from-insanity-hearing to pick up Raisin Bran." After Hours (1985) ![]() "You have a great body. -Yes. Not a lot of scars." A rare Scorcese film I recently heard about but hadn't seen. Liked it, but it's not a new favorite.

My Bloody Valentine (1981)
![]() "Roses are red, violets are blue, one is dead, and so are you." 40th anniversary. Highlander II: Renegade Version (1991/1995) ![]() "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. If you don't take it out and use it, it's going to rust." Watched again for its 30th anniversary. I should've watched the theatrical cut, but I only have that on VHS and my VCR died (or more accurately I buried it after it killed two tapes). Love Trick R Treat. Those others too.

Underwater (2020)
![]() "There's a comfort in cynicism. There is a lot less to lose." Liked this. A disaster hits an underwater drilling station and about six people have to figure out how to escape and piece together that there may be a new life form involved. Life After Flash (2017) ![]() "Who wants to hire a bitter, angry actor who wants to blame everyone else?" Documentary looking back at the 1980 movie with a particular focus on troubles of its lead actor. I see criticism that the film can't decide between being a retrospective on the film (they interview a lot of people) or a look at the rise, fall, and redemption of the actor, but I think that's a strength of the documentary. If it was just Sam’s story, I think (1) they wouldn’t have gotten as many people to talk; (2) it would’ve been heavier and less fun. Quote:

Perhaps so. At this point, however, I am so invested in my hatred for that film, I just cannot conceive of looking for anything good in it. Yours is undoubtedly the healthier approach, but I don't feel too bad about taking the low road in this one case.

Sting of Death (1966)
![]() "You don't like me!" The first from my new Arrow BD set of William Grefé movies. And the second. Death Curse of Tartu (1966) ![]() "The marshmallows was just an excuse."

MST3K: Overdrawn at the Memory Bank (1984)
"This is how much pure cocaine you would need to enjoy the movie!" A data technician is punished for watching old films while bored, so he begins hacking the computer in which his mind is stored. A handler attempts to help him while the corporate overlord tries to abuse him. This film feels like a precursor to The Matrix. It also feels like a bunch of scenes that a couple TV companies mashed together into a semi-coherent plot loosely modeled on a writer's love for Casablanca and the desire to make a clever sci-fi film. But there's far too much jargon and very little is explained (let alone explained adequately) to help the reader keep pace. And it doesn't feel very sensible for the overlord to try and kill the protagonist when a death would actually worsen the company's reputation and drop its value. But we get to see Raul Julia play both the main character and Humphrey Bogart, so that's something. And my dad got a kick out of Tom Servo trying to bully the nanites (I swear the nanites are his favorite characters).

Sleeping with the Enemy (1991)
![]() "I can't live without you. And I won't let you live without me." 30th anniversary. Really one of Roberts' best performances. Dracula (1931) ![]() "There are far worse things awaiting man than death." 90th anniversary. A user on the Classic Horror Film Board recently posted articles pretty conclusively showing that the movie actually premiered at the Strand in Sunbury, PA a week before the so-called premier in NYC. The date also worked better if I was going to watch it with my folks (which I did). I like that one. The film did feel like it had potential in itself, but was just a mess. Fun episode, though.

Hostiles (2017)
![]() "Don't look back, my friend. Go in a good way. A part of me dies with you." Expiring on Instant Netflix. Dark, but good. Eastern Promises (2007) ![]() "OK. You go and watch a DVD, yeah?" Trying to tick off the few Cronenberg movies I haven't seen. Really liked this one, which shows a maternity nurse getting unintentionally involved in a plot of London-based Russia mafia. Also includes a fully nude Viggo Mortensen fighting two knife-wielding assassins if that's your thing.

![]() "You get into more sh*t." Bedtime for Bonzo (1951) ![]() "Who expects a psychologist to think? Especially when you are so busy thinking what you think other people are thinking." 70th anniversary for the flick Reagan liked best of his (and for which he said the chimp was his favorite co-star) as I recall.

Tried to watch the MST3K riff of Future War, but it was so bad even with the jokes that I had to leave my dad's before it ended (didn't help that it's basically sleeting out, meaning I couldn't stay for too long or I'd be sleeping on the couch).
