Paule Marshall, an exuberant and sharpened storyteller who in books such as “Daughters” and “Brown Girl, Brownstones” drew upon classic and vernacular literature and her mother’s kitchen conversations to narrate the divides between blacks and whites, men and women, and modern and traditional cultures, has died at age 90.

Marshall died Monday in Richmond, Va., her son Evan said. She had been suffering from dementia in recent years.

Damn. I don't own either film, haven't even seen Pink Panther. Sucks that a guy responsible for such an impact on my childhood (particularly Roger Rabbit) is now gone.
