So I dropped this book...I don't even remember the issue, but it was a while ago. What's the consensus? Worth picking back up again?

I'm not really satisfied with The Flash lately. The Art is good and I like Grodd but the characters in this book feel somewhat flat, have no depth or real personality. I had hoped that I would learn something new about Barry the triangulated relationship between him, Patty and Iris, but nothing.

Don't get me wrong, there're a lot of interesting ideas in the book, but at least IMO they're not told to the end. Constantly happen new things and I have the impression of constantly missing something or lacking context. I think this has to do with the way the story is told, because I haven't got those "problems" with batman or the green lantern books.

I think if I wouldn't like the character and the art so much, I'd have definitly dropped the book.

Yeah, I have a lot of the same complaints.

As with a lot of characters in the "New 52", you have to read The Flash from the standpoint that he's the same, yet different....the same for The Rogues. If you can do that, you may enjoy reading this title. No doubt, Manapul & Buccellato have changed a few things...but; imo, it's very entertaining with lots of action.

That said, I've dropped 8 DC titles because I didn't like the "new" character/villain, etc.....so I understand if someone drops The Flash for the same reason.

Default Thoughts on #15....

Say what you will about story and plots, but the artwork on the last 7 pages of issue #15 is fantastically phenomenal!!! So few words used because so few were needed....

I'm not so sure I like what they're doing with Grodd, making him solely dependent on Speedforce energy.....where is the telepathic, psionic powers? He is naturally....well, a beast....Not a withered, old Gorilla! I'll have to see what they do with the story arc, but I hope that Grodd comes out of this having NOT lost "face".

My opinions about Grodd aside, I loved this issue....and this is definitely one of my favorite titles every month.

ECCC: DC COMICS ALL ACCESS
Quote:
The perpetual question of Stephanie Brown and Wally West's appearance in the DCU came up. Asked if they wanted a Wally appearance in the New 52, the crowd cheered before being told "Too bad." Then the answer shifted towards "Never say never" before Fialkov asked fans to track down "Flash" writer Brian Buccellato on the floor and demand he write Wally into the book.
ECCC: DC COMICS THE NEW 52
Quote:
"The Flash" will focus on the Reverse Flash for a long arc that will take most of the next year, but he's not the only character who will be showing up. Trickster will be involved in a two-part story before that. When the Reverse Flash appears, he'll be different in both secret identity and power set than any version of the character to appear before. Buccellato joked that "Wally West questions are off the table" for the rest of the panel.

For a few months I stopped reading the Flash, because I got somewhat bored with the story. On Sunday I picked my books up again and read the Grodd-Arc (#13-17) and it really got me again. I liked the fight against Grodd (maybe because I like Grodd as a villain), and I hope that the ongoing run against Trickster (?) will be as good. I was a little sad that the book got disappointing to me storywise or maybe I just needed a break, but I'm happy not to have tropped it entirely but to pick the issues up and read them when I want to.

It will last an issue or two tops. Once they catch the speed force killer the speed force energy in Iris will "start to diminish" then "disappear"
