Green Lantern #18 *Preview/Spoilers* - Page 2

Not much story movement in #18. Not a bad issue, but feels less than necessary.

I missed Doug Mahnke on the art (not looking forward to his departure).

Did I miss something? Where is this info or rumor about John being a Red Lantern?

Also confused by the new information about Volthoom. They make him our the be the source behind existence in the universe now, if that's the case then what the hell does that make The Entity? Is Volthoom life in general and The Entity sentient life?

We've been connecting the dots given that he's the only Earth GL who hasn't been mentioned in one of the books post-creative team shakeup and due to Fialkov's comments in interviews about introducing a controversial new RL.

Volthoom traveled back in time to accomplish what Krona was attempting: to witness the moment of creation. Bearing witness to the light embued him with the power of the First Lantern. It's fairly detailed.

No. Tomar said they couldn't die as long as they willed to live. Assumedly, if Hal wills/chooses to die, it'll take.

Ahh, that part went over my head. That does make some amount of sense I suppose.

Hal can't die if he has the will to live. Committing suicide is going against the very concept of wantng to live. So it should work in a way just shooting someone wouldn't. Sinestro still wanted to live.

I wouldn't say the plot "inced along". This was a good issue. We see Sinestro's dark side for the first time in a long time and we get more information on Volthoom.

I didnt pick it up today, but I did skim through it. Who did the art on the Chamber of Shadows parts? I enjoyed it for what it was. I liked how it contrasted with the Dead Zone sequences.

Also, while skimming I did notice that Tomar Re talked about Nekron!

Yes Tomar did mention the invasion and his minons escaped from the dead zone in Blackest night. The art is done by Szymon Kudranski. He should be a guest artist. In the land of the living the art is done by Alex Sinclair! Hal loses the Will to live... and chooses to die to become the Greatest Black lantern as told by the Book of black against Lord Vortdemor... no... Lord Volthoom!

Hopefully John won't switch sides... As a John fan I can only hope its not him till Glc 21 appears! Lets hope its Sinestro instead?!

Just as dumb, if not dumber, then "choosing" to come back to life in Blackest Night. Ugh.

I loved this issue, it was great to see Hal and Sinestro actually be a part of an issue more than just one page. The art had a great spooky vibe to it that I loved and Syaf's art was great on the other part too. We knew this was coming for a while and I'm intrigued to see Hal become and Black Lantern and what happens to Sinestro and Simon. Loved Hal and Sinestro fighting for the Ring too.

I never heard about Red Lantern John but that would be very interesting if it did happen.

Yes I read it too. This is more of what I was referring to

Here they are making it seem like The Entity is pretty much the existence to life and if it dies, everyone dies.

Here it's the same thing again but with the first lantern.

It just seems a bit redundant for both of them to be connected to all of life and that everyone dies if either dies. (Not to mention another villain who feeds off of emotions)

perhap the "if he dies, we die" is in reference to ring bearers.

He's the source that the batteries draw from and if he's not a source anymore then there is no inate battery source.

5 issues in, and aside from getting Volthoom, I can't help but feeling that all these issues have been either filler, or the feeling of deja-vu of having already been here [with the other issues atleast]. Atleast this one moved forward, but it's the 5th part already, and I was hoping for more than another round of 0 issues, about another plot device of emotional energies; more specically of another being, although for a different reason, wanting to drain emotional energy from people.

Best issue in a long time, but agree with that guy above me. Only about a third of a story got told here. Nice art. Dark themes. Great fist-fight, what we could see of it. Expecting to see Katma Tui, Martin Jordan, and a few others in the next issue as Hal, like Harry Potter, faces the death he was always meant to face, but can only do so with a final glance at his friends and family... In fact, replace Johns with J K Rowling right now, it'll come out better.
