Ironic that I'm reading this; She just made me chicken salad sandwiches!
And in a few minutes my son and I are off to Spooky World New England. Gonna get our fright on tonight!

Sweet! Where is Spooky World located now? For a while, they were at the Patriots Stadium (that might have been quite a while ago) and then there was all this legal bullshit and they had to move. The Stadium is ten minutes from my house.

Ahoy, Mateys.
Just got home from my aunt's house in Cape Cod, been there since Wednesday with no internet. I ran to Dunkin donuts for a few minutes each morning just to check the vitals. Thursday, my dad and I spread 6 yards of loam by hand and did a ton of other yard work at her house, and let me tell ya, this Doom is hurtin big time. So this weekend.....hmm,...well a LONG nap for starters, I want to take a ride to Taeget later to pick up Kiss' latest greatest hits collection (damn you, Gene Simmons) and check out the TF merch they have. Tomorrow, I might go to this new church that I visited a couple weeks ago. Dunno. Depends how I feel physically. And I want to continue work on the song I am recording. So what's everyone up to?

I'll just repost this here as I didn't think of this thread at the time:
I'm heading out the door now, on my way to The Somerville Theatre in Mass to watch a 7 film horror marathon, all in glorious 35mm! The lineup is: The Cat And The Canary (with musical accompaniment) Poltergeist Creature From The Black Lagoon (in 3D) John Carpenter's The Thing Wait Until Dark A Nightmare On Elm St Part 3 Let The Right One In The first and foremost reason I'm going is to see The Thing. It's the last big movie on my on screen bucket list and my all time favorite horror film. This one is huge to me. 2nd most excited for TCFTBL. Being in 3D is icing on the cake. Definitely not staying late enough for Let The Right One In. Fantastic film and I really like both versions of it, but I'm not driving back at 3 in the morning.

Had a great time! The 35mm print of The Thing was in beautiful condition, and had no scratches or defects that I could see. It as awesome seeing it on the big screen, which I've never been able to pull off until now. I was 8 years old in 1982 when The Thing came out and I've seen the film dozens of times on TV, VHS, DVD and bluray.
I've fallen in love with this particular theater since finding it. It was built in 1914 and they had their 100th anniversary this year by celebrating with a lot of classic movies. It's been renovated and they keep the main theater in excellent condition. For classic movies the manager comes out onstage and introduces the film by saying a few words to the audience about it. Then they pull back old fashioned curtains and play the movies. Very old school, very cool. Add to that, there was some kind of annual music festival in the streets of Somerville this weekend. There were bands playing every few blocks in alleys, corners and parks and there were thousands of people of all ages walking the streets celebrating, many of them in costumes. Kind of like their own little mardi gras.
