And he's moving to Metropolis... here's hoping he becomes a series regular on Superman & Lois!

Either he is, and they'll rename
John Stewart John Diggle in the comics
in the next 12 months, or this is a red herring and that's
Kryptonite
.

They already established John Diggle as John Stewart via his adoptive father being General Stewart, thus Dig is just an Elseworlds version of John. Earth-90 Flash even recognized this when he asked him where his ring was in the Elseworlds crossover last season.

Apparently he's showing up on Flash in an episode or two, but it has nothing to do with what just happened.

Long term, though, I wonder what the plan is. I don't think they're sending him to the HBO Max series and I can't imagine they'd have two Green Lantern shows simultaneously... so what, then? Ship him to "Legends of Tomorrow," give them a GL? Just make him a recurring character in the Arrowverse, popping up during the yearly crossovers? Meh.

He'll be recurring somewhere on the CW, for sure. Maybe he'll be a Legend, maybe he'll be a recurring staple of Superman & Lois, maybe he'll bounce around all the shows. Whatever the case may be, it's clear they've been setting him up for this since last season, so its certainly not just a throw away finale.

It's just a thing falling from the sky that he runs over to and finds a box that shines green as he opens it.

Eh... you mean just to see the "Big Green Lantern Reveal"? No, not at all. They don't even show you what the glowing green thing is. I'm sure it's intended to be a Green Lantern ring and not, say, Kryptonite, but it's an awful lame way of doing it.

And since when do Green Lantern rings arrive by themselves inside asteroids, inside... eh... jewelry boxes?

Which is exactly why I don't think it's a GL ring at all. Could be Kryptonite. Could be the Emerald Eye of Ekron. Could be something else entirely.

Could be Alan Scott's ring. Could be [enter oddity from any Elseworlds story here]. Or it could just be that they didn't have a prop ready to use while filming, and decided to put it in a box because reasons.

The actor said they've been "planning this for years". It'd be pretty unlikely and dumb if what they've been planning for years was just a boxful of Kryptonite, or Alan Scott's ring that nobody knows about.

Interesting... sounds like he might be the new GL learning the ropes in the HBO Max series, after all.

He does appear to know an awful lot about the show for a guy who isn't going to be on it. And it is Berlanti. I don't think he'll be on it (I just can't fathom them wanting to extend the Arrowverse into HBOMax)... but maybe?

I satisfied my curiosity (*sighs.....* :/ ), and I agree it likely *isn't* k-rock, mainly due to the fact that: 1) it changed directions when it made landfall, and 2) why would it be in a jewelry box (aside from the fact that CW-Arrowverse writers make some mind-boggling story decisions)??

now, it being the Emerald Eye of Ekron?? unlikely as well, but I'll admit that could a REALLY interesting thing to watch.....
