The Nightwing page looks really similar to Don Kramer's first two pages of "Nightwing #152"

Its gonna be really interesting to see how they compare...

I'm kinda shocked that Tony is showing us Gordon's troubles when DC has an one-shot planned for that. If Gordon's role looks prominent within the main series, I will wait for the Gordon one-shot to drop in price.

Tony Daniel Talks Battle For The Cowl & After...

http://www.newsarama.com/common/medi....php?aid=26148

"There will be several BatmEn appearances..."

"I will be back on The Batman title, as the regular artist."

"I won't be back on the very first issue back, that is being treated as an one-shot. But I will be back for the first arc."

"That arc will be directly after Battle For The Cowl"

"All of Gotham's problems are not solved."

Well, so much for Quitely I guess. I wonder who will be the artist for the first issue?

They aren't going to abandon the original numbering when the title returns are they?

I doubt it. It would be kinda pointless and its so close to 700. They don't have a real reason to do it.

And we won't have to worry about the potential delays Frank Quietly may have brought upon the title.

Wow, is it me or does Tony Daniel look like he is going to snap at any second in that interview?

Watching this interview, I can't help but be a little nervous about how Daniel is going to pull this off. It's been built up and hyped so much, and it's a little unsettling to have someone who's never really written anything of note pen this tale. Of course he may pull it off - we won't know until June when it's all said and done - and I hope he does because this story has so much potential to be really great. But for me, I'd rather this be in the hands of an experienced writer.

I'm only worried because its only 3 issues..there's a lot of story to tell, and three issues for a non experienced writer is not the greatest situation in the world.

Spoilers or misdirection?

http://comicsmedia.ign.com/comics/im...4104836115.jpg

Text blanked out:
Nightwing, Harley, Alfred, T-Rex, Jason Todd (or is that Wildcat?), Batman memorial, the Two-Face of Zur-En-Arrh (standing in front of the giant penny - scratched), the rogue cop from #666 (who might be the new Azrael), Batwoman, Damien and... Bruce? And what's with the crate? Did someone get thrown into a Lazarus pit? Who? Talia?

Who's the insect-looking guy?

That first picture is fairly old Mike. Its a teaser picture that DC has been been flaunting around for a while, by Tony Daniel for promotion. That's not Two Face of Zur En Arrh, its just Two Face dressed like Batman. Also, that's not Bruce its Hush, notice the bandages on the leg. We've got a topic on this picture a few pages back in this forum....Also, that is not Wildcat, it has already been confirmed that its Jason Todd who will be taking advantage of a Batman-less Gotham City during Battle for the Cowl. There are some clues in this picture however and if you can find the ones we didn't, I know I would be thankful. So check this thread and get to work!

As for the second picture...I'm not sure who that is, but I'll throw out Firefly just because its early and my mind says so. So take that for what it is.

Yes indeedy. Though their involvement will be severely limited to cameo appearances to "help" the main characters.

Well, despite my lack of enthusiasm for this, if there is going to be a war for the cowl...then I'm on the Penguin's side.

Get this over with? What's wrong with you guys? How can you not be interested in the destruction of Gotham City's finest characters, establishments, and the possible "resurrection" of certain people?! The suspense is killing me!

ummm, no....No sarcasm. I'm actually excited for this. I mean its (really) only 3 issues and its a story that needs to be told. Of course I'm anticipating Grant's return in June more so than Battle but this is potentially great stuff happening.

As long as its a good read, then HELL YES. Nothing lasts forever in comic books anyway so why not try to make the best of that by doing things that are considered "out there"?! Gordon is being asked to step down by the media/civilians and Arkham is literally destroyed, I don't see any harm done. But I do see potentially outstanding scenarios. And because Tony states that he wants this to read like a movie, I'm even more so interested in what it will look like visually. The pages we've seen so far are tremendously different style that we've seen him do recently with Grant, and while they aren't unique, its different and still interesting.

If it actually turns out to be a good read (and not a rehash of Knightfall, No Man's Land and/or Officer Down, all of which came out within the last twenty years), I'll be positively surprised. It's just that at this point, I don't expect much.

I think the story itself has great potential. My only hesitation - as I've said several times before - is that we're basically letting an unknown writer handle a potentially huge chapter in the life of Batman. If he pulls it off great, but it seems an awfully big task for a newcomer.
