Default New Robocop

Has anyone seen the picture of the new Robocop?

I don't like it.

He looks like Cyclops from the Marvel NOW! relaunch, which means he looks like Racer X from Speed Racer...

If RoboCop was part of DC's New 52, I'm guessing he'd look like that. Why isn't he wearing a glove on his right hand? I won't give my opinion on the suit until I see more photos or a preview of the movie but I'm not getting a RoboCop vibe from it. This is a paparazzi photo, so maybe the suit will be CGI enhanced in post-production. I'll add that this might not be the final suit because I heard rumors that he'll be upgrading to different armors throughout the film(like the Iron Man movies). I still can't believe they're actually remaking RoboCop. The original suit is a masterpiece of sci-fi cinema and to me it's as iconic as Darth Vader's.

That might just be the suit during shooting.

It could be changed during pre-production.

I didn't make this image but I found it somewhere online. I don't know if it's any better but it pays more of a homage to the original suit.

I don't like the helmet. Or the colors.

Let's hope they didn't mess up the gun...

It looks like a rip-off of Halo. Don't like it.

In the original, the crooks were stupid. Nobody thought of shooting him in the face? *BLAM!!* No more baby food.

A lot will depend on how he moves in these suits, but to my mind, from the static pictures, these just look like a guy in body armor, not a guy who has had large portions of his anatomy replaced by robotic parts.

The trick is to make what obviously IS a guy in a suit not LOOK like just a guy in a suit. I think the original pulled that look off much better, with the bulkier look, the prominent, mechanical-looking joints, and the less organic lines.

But a lot of what makes him really seem robotic comes from the movement (and the voice and sound effects), so I can't really judge without video. Iron Man's armor, in some ways, looks more like a robot than some of these designs, but he MOVES like a person in armor, so I can't go by looks alone...

Even trained snipers don't go for the Hollywood Headshot; it's a waste of time and effort. You aim for center mass.

Those who do end up with headshots are typically extremely lucky.

What would shooting him in the face do? He's still robot underneath!

I'll bet they could rig something up. I doubt the exposed portion of his face was really critical, such that a shot there would do much to stop him.

And maybe they DID aim for his face, but were really bad shots, or their aim deteriorated when they were scared. I imagine that hitting that small a target from any distance, while under stress, would be pretty hard.

Stop him in his tracks. Even though he was mostly robotic, his higher functions still originated in his brain, and his face wasn't protected, so you'd think that would be an area to concentrate fire upon.

Maybe those were Stormtrooper refugees. Still, I thought it was odd that nobody tried to expose his one glaring weak spot, whether it was legit or not.

Same reason Batman doesn't get new villains every issue.

Under that skin is just metal and circuitry. His lips and chin was the only thing that was mainly exposed, the "brain" was covered unless you count the end of the movie.

Perhaps, but wouldn't you concentrate fire on the apparent weak spot or continue to shoot at his fortified chest?

When I was a kid, that's the problem I had with this flick.
