Red 2 (2013)
"I did not see that coming."
Ex-CIA legend Frank Moses is once more pulled into the thick of it as he and his friends are targeted in connection with a plot to use a weapon of mass destruction. They need to find out what the weapon is, where it is, and stop the real bad guys from getting their hands on it.
It's been a little while since I saw the first, but most of the same players return. Malkovich is easily my favorite here, turning in a wonderfully entertaining performance as Marvin. Willis's Frank is just as hard-nosed as ever, and we get a great youngblood in the form of Korean acting legend Byung Hun Lee (the scene with him and the Russian cops is stellar).
I thought the plot was a bit better this time around, some more "old flames and double crosses" elements keeping things humorous and attention-holding.
The stunts and fights were predictably over-the-top, with some good car scenes courtesy of Lee and Mirren; Willis gets a good workout in a couple scenes but now has to share the spotlight.
Overall a good film, definitely not suffering from the all-too-real syndrome of sequels being inferior.
Daylight Wall stands forever. No wall stands against it. Bring them down.

Been in a Beatles mood lately (not that rare), so I watched the Lester movies:
"There's somebody been in this soup."
A Hard Day's Night (1964)
"The place is surging with girls.
-Please, sir, sir, can I have one to surge me, sir, please, sir?"
