Darkest Hour - I enjoyed it. Oldman was great, as were some of the supporting performances. I do think the film looked a little drab though, and you could have called it "Big Speeches: The Movie". Still it was effective. - 7.5 / 10

Back to the Future: Part II (1989)

"The time-traveling is just too dangerous. Better that I devote myself to study the other great mystery of the universe: women!"

Ah, the far-off future of 2015, when everyone drives flying cars and eats re-hydrated pizza.

The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)

"What are you talking about, arm?"

The first movie released this year that I've seen. The fam and I liked it more than I thought it would based on critical reception.

John Wick (2014)

"Do I look civilized to you?"

John Wick 2 (2017)

"Somebody, please! Get this man a gun!"

Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (2005)

"The dead are getting up."

I wasn't expecting much of anything with this and that's what I got. So bad that at one point you can clearly see that the supposed local news van is actually a rented Ryder.

My review of Phantom Thread. Honestly it might be one of the most perfect films of 2017.

I really liked it. Jordan as Killmonger is by far one of Marvel's strongest villains (he has an actual reasonable motivation, and arc), and the movie has a lot to say in terms of themes and politics, but it never feels overwhelming. Plus the action sequences were great. Possibly in my top five of the MCU (still thinking it over though), the only downside is that for a change the hero is less interesting than the actual villains, still that's minor in the grand scheme of themes. Definitely one of the more impressive Marvel films anyway. - 8 / 10

Better than I expected.

Doing some prep (watching movies of guests coming) for Monster Mania in three weeks.

Ghostbusters (2016)

Wasn't angry at it so much as deeply disappointed. The main characters kept going from badly cliche to mildly enjoyable (I actually really liked McKinnon's Holtzmann), the plot was awful, the original's cameos have me convinced they privately agreed to cost the film money by starring in it (a "mercy kill" move, I feel), etc, etc, etc.

A waste of time, and a mark of shame for the studio.

Jane Got a Gun (2015)

"We had the Johnnies outnumbered well and truly. You know, it took us four years to do what we should've done in a few months, because they had will and purpose. If you got those two things, numbers ain't s**t."

The Alligator People (1959)

"Miz Hawthorne, she deal with the Evil One."

Wanted to watch this again after coming across a couple references to it the past week or so.

Raising Arizona (1987)

"H.I., you're young and you got your health, what you want with a job?"

Black Panther 2018

Doctor Strange 2016

The irony about these 2 movies is that I figured I would love the former and hate the latter (due to my disgust of Cumberbatch) and the end result was exactly the opposite...i was very disappointed with Black Panther and surprisingly extremely pleased by Doctor Strange.

And in my never-ending hope for a REAL appearance of Doom, I wished he might have at least been hinted at as a nod to Doom fans that they hadn't been forgotten about. Alas, we keep the torch lit, but not know where the tunnel is.

This^. Thoroughly enjoyed the film all throughout.

If I had any complaint, it would be that Killmonger beat T'Challa far too easily during the challenge, but then, someone who reads the books informed me that this is the case in the comic, and in fact, Killmonger beats down BP every time they face off.
