Well, it doesn't look totally weak. I'll flip through it, but I probably won't buy it.

"Ryutt," huh. Was that the homeworld of Attrocittuss?

Did The Big Bad Att just say what I think he said to a vagina-faced looking alien? LMAO!

I actually really liked this one! An attempt to reconcile John's take on the Inversions with Moor's old stuff in the new 52? Works for me! The only thing that doesn't so much is that Atty seems to be the only guy on his whole planet that doesn't have lips.

The real tragedy here is that Atty's last home meal was chewy orbs. Maybe that's why the Manhunters killed his wife, she couldn't cook.

Wow, this issue sucked. How many times have we heard Atrocitus' origin over the past four years?

I don't think it's quite right to say it's pointless to review Atrocitus' origin. Sure, we know his origin, but we knew nothing about the other Inversions who're going to play a part in the next storyline. Not only that but it tells us about how Atrocitus gained his "blood prophecy" power and why none of the other RLs have it. It tells us what the Empire of Tears was (which nobody else did - not even Moore's original story). It gives us more of a reason to care about the Inversions' return, or at least Roximu's (can't be bothered to try and look that name up). And it re-establishes the other four Inversions as demons and not just aliens who lived in Sector 666, which is what Johns retconned them to be. Atty's now not just some really angry alien dude who tapped into the Red spectrum. He gained magical powers and THEN tapped into the red spectrum. Which is a great deal better, IMO.

Plus, I liked how his daughter backtalked the Manhunter in the beginning and how Atty ignored her when she said she didn't trust them. That's the sort of thing that wasn't in Atty's origin before and I think it adds a lot.

I'm usually not one to defend this book. It's consistently disappointed me with a meandering story, flat uninteresting characters, and cheescake shots every single time Bleeze is on the page, but this issue? This issue I actually liked.

Of all the Lantern books, I don't think this one really "changes" anything we had in the past, even paying homage to Alan Moores tale. For that, it gets 5/5.

I really enjoyed it and Atrocitus even more now and feel so sad for him but I overall wish that it showed a little more than what we got.

I give it 5 stars. It did a lot in a single issue, everything that has been wrong and unexplained about the Red Lanterns since their introduction has been fixed and explained here... and that took some doing.

Ryutt, Ysmault, the Inversions, Atrocitus, The Empire of Tears connection, the Purge, the Massacre... finally it all makes sense.

Now we can move forward with Red Lanterns as a concept. I have no idea why this needed to take years to come about.

I like the re-introduction of the Inversions. The throwback to Green Lantern Corps Annual #3 was nice. Good to see history not being totally ignored!

Does anyone else think this is better read before #1?

Obviously I'm biased but I recommend it. Both RL #0 and GLC #0 can safely be read before #1. It is backstory, so I figure it would have made the rest of RL more interesting, since there isn't a ton of plot going on. But there is also an argument to read comics in release order...

Also, shame on you for reading a spoiler thread before the issue.
