        • I love how the article follows the bit about how,

"He's always maintained that his mission isn't to prove the Earth is flat."

with the picture of his rocket with a HUGE label on the side that says "Research Flat Earth".

Somebody is clearly having fun reporting on this goofball.

          • It's pretty impressive that he didn't blow up or otherwise kill himself.
If you granted him his premise, it would be pretty hard for him to disprove flat earth. Even if he actually left the atmosphere, he could just say he's seeing the top of the earth.* He'd have to go into full orbit (which he doesn't believe in) to disprove himself or to "prove" it he'd have to rotate to backside of the earth.

*Unless of course he would be willing to admit that there is an Asia and such.

Yeah, as far as I know, most flat-earthers don't disbelieve the existence of stuff on the other side of the earth, they just say it is all on one flat plane. So seeing the disc of the planet, and no sign of Asia or Australia, would require some serious adjustments (which they no doubt would make, since they are already denying a lot of much more obvious stuff).

Yeah. Since it's a conspiracy theory too, it's kind of impossible to disprove. If Musk offered to take every one of them to space, they'd probably just say he faked the windows with video.

                  • Wow, that's some harsh law they have there, though. He was convicted of murder because while he and others were committing a burglary, one of the others was shot and killed by an officer after he charged police with a drawn weapon.

The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing (which makes sense to me, since it sounds like body cameras showed the guy running at the cops with gun drawn and pointed), but apparently his death was still considered a murder, which seems REALLY odd.

                    • Katy Perry makes an American Idol performance all about her. This is one reason nobody watches that show any more. Another one is that it's produced very few stars.

The guy is also mentally ill. Who laughs when he gets sentenced to 65 years in prison?
